Kamigami – 75 Part 5

Keita ran through the rows of tents.

From the corner of his eye, he occasionally caught sight of the magicians who were searching for him.

He reached into his pocket without slowing down, and grabbed a fragment of mithril.

“Legis!”

Magical energy flowed into the engraved crest, emitting a light around Keita.

“Oborozuki Body!”

A double that looked exactly like him leapt out into the center. Keita then ran in the opposite direction.

“Beware of illusion magic! Confirm with magic sight and report the direction the real one went!”

He could hear the shouting of the magicians who chased after him. While he was managing to outrun them through invisibility and illusions, it was just a matter of time before they caught up with him.

‘Keita! There are two magicians up ahead! They mean to pincer you from the left and right!’

Just as Canila warned, the magicians saw him as they thrust out their staves.

“Legis! Wither limbs and bind legs!”

The silver fragment he threw struck the magician, and in an instant the man’s entire body was paralyzed, leaving him collapsed on the spot.

‘You’re using it too much! That last one finished off your paralysis spell, didn’t it!? You barely have any invisibility or illusions left either!’

“Enough complaints! What’s the enemy’s position!?”

Standby spells were magic that could be activated simply by supplying energy and skipping the incantation.

However, Keita had little time to prepare, and so he had only managed to make a little over a dozen. And he had already used up most of them.

‘It appears the soldiers have now realized you have no intention of fighting them head-on. They have started trampling down the tents to clear their field of view.’

“I see…Alrigh then.”

The cluster of tents housing tens of thousands of soldiers had made for excellent cover. However, to reach the central area, where the Seer’s Hero was, Keita would have no choice but to break through the mass of soldiers.

“Looks like I’ll have to do something reckless then. Canila, I probably won’t be able to keep track of my direction, so I’ll be counting on you to guide me.”

‘…Very well. But if you feel like you can’t…’

“Let’s not talk about that. We have to do this.”

The sounds of footsteps were drawing closer.

Heavenrise Flames, which he had used earlier, had only been meant as a warning. Its effects were deliberately limited so that no one would get hurt.

But what he was about to use now had no such restraint.

While imagining the terrifying power it contained, Keita poured magic into a separate mithril fragment he had prepared and gave the command.

“Legis Sutore.”

Standby spells were a technique that temporarily paused the activation of magic. In other words, they allowed the energy that would be released to be ‘stored.’

“Source of the laws and elements that dwell in all things. Primordial resonance engraved in radiant light, I command thee.”

A red glow lit up in his palm. The silver fragment ignited, and Keita could feel the energy gathering. It was stronger than that of any spell he had cast before.

“Raging flames, gather and come forth! As comrades, raise the iron-blooded fist and thrust it into the heavens!”

The incantation was somewhat similar to Raging Inferno.

But the power hidden within those words was on an entirely different scale.
