The children were quick to adapt
“Mr. Takumi, we will help with loading the luggage onto the wagons!”
And so the man and the woman followed after Alfred.
They were called Kai and Mentia. And as they were holding hands, I had a feeling that they were close.
“Wuff-wuff.”
“Kyahaha. That tickles!”
“My turn!”
“Oh, the fur is so fluffy! It’s softer than a bed!”
I heard some laughter and turned around to see Leo playing with the children.
Leo was licking the girl’s face, which was her way of greeting people.
“Hehe. They really get along.”
“Yes. Leo is always so popular with children… Huh?”
While Claire and I watched them and smiled, I noticed that there seemed to be one child missing.
“Huh. And then what?”
“And then the child went on a journey and met a new fenrir… And it was quite a rascal…”
“Kyau?”
“Gurr!”
“Oh, how exciting!”
“Bow!”
I saw that one girl had left the others and was listening to Walter tell a story.
It was probably the same child who had listened to him at the orphanage.
Walter’s stories were so popular that some children preferred them to Leo…
Not only that, but even Sherry, Feri, Farinette and Volgrau were there, wagging their tails. Well, Volgrau had always liked Walter.
“I have a feeling he will be very popular in the village.”
“Yes. I do hope the children of Range Village enjoy his stories.”
“I’m sure they will.”
Claire looked a little worried, but I wasn’t.
The children of Range Village were very carefree and not much different from the children here.
I suppose children in this world were less cynical overall. And so they were very accepting and entertained by such stories.
As for the children of the orphanage… They had different reasons for being there. But the one thing they had in common was that they had no parents or other relatives.
Many would have had sad pasts. So it was due to Ms. Anna’s hard work that they all turned into bright and honest children.
“Mr. Takumi. We should go now.”
“We have finished loading their luggage. And the people of the town are waiting.”
“I understand.”
“Yes.”
After talking to Claire for some time, Sebastian and Alfred approached us.
Leo was lying down now and wagging her tail impatiently.
And so I nodded and Claire and I made our way back.
It was going to be like a parade. So there might be a lot of people watching… But I hoped it wouldn’t be too much.
“We’re counting on you, Leo.”
“Thank you, good Leo.”
“Wuff-wuff!”
I petted Leo with a smile. She was really looking forward to carrying us.
“Oomph… Now, your turn, Claire.”
“Thank you. Oomph. Hehe.”
I climbed onto Leo’s back and then helped Claire up.
She blushed and chuckled.
“Haha. While it’s already a little embarrassing…it will get much worse once we are inside. Though, I’m sure that you’re used to getting this kind of attention…”
“I wouldn’t say that I’m used to it… But I suppose it’s easier for me to switch to that mindset.”
As she was the daughter of a duke, she could change the way she acted when out in public.
“Wuff!”
“Woah!”
“Ahh!”
“Wou?”
After confirming that we were on top, Leo got up suddenly.
And so Claire and I could not help but be surprised.
