The brick road was progressing smoothly
“Well then, let’s go. Claire, Liza and Leo.”
“Yes, let’s.”
“Okay!”
“Wuff!”
Once everyone was ready, I climbed onto Leo’s back, along with Claire and Liza.
We had actually planned to ride the carriage, but Liza really wanted to ride with us. And so I sat behind Claire, while Liza sat on Claire’s lap.
Leo also had some baggage tied around her neck, which Liza was able to hold onto so that she did not fall.
“Everyone! Goodbye! Be safe!”
As we started to leave, the children shouted behind us. It was the children from the orphanage, as well as Ms. Anna.
“Huh…there is a proper road here.”
“Wuff-wuff.”
“Mama says it’s easier to run!”
“If it is easier for good Leo, then it must be the same for the horses and carriages. Apparently, the road extends halfway towards Range Village.”
“In that case, it shouldn’t take long for it to be fully connected. That will make things very convenient.”
There had always been a road extending from the east gate, but now it was laid with beautiful bricks.
Obviously, we couldn’t really tell the difference when riding on Leo. But it was an impressive sight.
Some of the bricks were that familiar reddish brown color, while others were gray and white etcetera.
“If it’s the fenrirs, better roads would mean that we could expand the range of the stations. Though, perhaps it will be more difficult when it comes to horses…”
“Indeed. Besides, we are currently trying to make improvements to the carries. So we will have to wait for that to be completed. Sebastian is still trying to figure out the ideal distances between the stations. I think there would be at least one between Range Village and Ractos.”
“Yes. Especially since the journey will take three days. It will only be one day with the fenrirs and a strong carriage… But I think passengers will still want a place to rest.”
We needed to reinforce the carriages, as they would likely break if pulled at the speed that fenrirs were capable of.
Previously, when we had let the fenrirs race, the carriages had barely survived.
It would be a disaster if they broke during a journey… And so for now, they would continue to be used with horses.
“We also have to make inns with these stations. There is so much to think about after going to Range Village.”
“Haha. I suppose it is a good thing, being kept busy. Still, we cannot overextend ourselves… Though, I will likely be busy making herbs and medicine…”
I wanted to avoid repeating what had happened in Japan. Where I was overworked and barely had any time to rest.
However, I didn’t like the idea of having nothing to do either. I just need to secure enough time to relax and rest as well.
As for Claire, she had her own work in regards to sales to other towns and villages. She would be kept quite busy as well.
…I would have to make sure that I didn’t run out of stock when it came to recovery and sleep aiding herbs for Claire.
Though, I’m sure that Ms. Hermine and the other servants would be careful to make sure that she stays in good health.
Also, even though it was for his territories, Mr. Ekenhart would not want Claire to be overworked. And he would make sure that she didn’t have too many responsibilities so that she would have very little time to rest…
