“Invisibility!?”
A moment later, the magic projectile tore through the now empty space and gouged a hole into the ground.
“Infantry, hold your positions! Rear magician unit, scan the entire area with Magic Eye! Giant beast subjugation unit, move to the Hero’s tent!”
As Furukamuto fired off orders, he noticed a common trait to the enemy’s magic.
“You…had Canila’s Hero craft it in advance, didn’t you? A prototype of the divine vessel.”
“Exactly. The one Sheto is using was made by Keita.”
After overlaying the visual data from the magicians onto the water mirror, Furukamuto sent the feed to Yasuharu. He then hesitated.
The Hero known as Keita had used several great spells.
What if the kobold’s bow carried the same abilities?
In the first place, where had the blessings used to create such a divine vessel come from?
Recalling everything that had happened up to now, Furukamuto reached his conclusion.
“All infantry, discard your spears and draw your swords! Follow the guidance of the magicians and lock onto the kobold’s position! It is only invisible. Once struck, it will die like anything else!”
“No hesitation, eh? But a tight formation will make them easy prey for great magic.”
“Do not underestimate me. That is merely a parting gift from a lesser god. It must have been set to trigger upon Canila Farada’s defeat.”
The Dragon God playfully closed one eye in a wink.
“I see. So you’ve seen through my hand after all.”
“If you used a bow imbued with two spells, along with an invisibility divine vessel, that goddess would not have enough blessings left for great magic.”
On the surface of the water mirror, the unseen kobold’s shadow began to emerge. Countless eyes, guided by his and Yasuharu’s minds, marked the kobold’s position as a glowing red point.
“Don’t try to hit it with your swords! Ram into the kobold and knock it off its feet!”
As if knocked back by the avalanche-like charge of the soldiers, the kobold was sent flying through the empty air before landing. The wolf remained invisible, slipping out of the magician unit’s field of vision.
“Go! Crush it!”
Still, the kobold drew his bow, stacked the blessing, and unleashed the magic. The soldiers in the lead were sent tumbling, causing those behind to collapse as well.
“Do not bother with the fallen! Continue to advance!”
The kobold moved back a little and fired the spells in rapid succession.
However, the soldiers were closing the distance, faster than he could draw.
“Kill it! Once you are close, an archer is nothing to fear!”
“…Fool.”
The Dragon God grumbled, and at the same exact moment, the kobold stopped firing.
“Did you think it was named Twin Fangs for show?”
With a clear ringing sound, the bow in the kobold’s hands split into two.
‘Uooooooohhh!’
Fresh blood and shattered blades burst forth, scattering violently before the charging soldiers.
As the kobold spun like a dancer, there were two blades gripped in his hands.
“The bow…turned into swords…!”
“Go, Sheto! Show us the fruits of your training!”
The kobold kicked off of the ground and charged at the soldiers. His arms hung so low that they nearly scraped the earth. In an instant, he slipped past a soldier’s flank, and then they arched upwards and slammed down.
‘Gaaaahhh!’
‘H-how is he moving like that!’
He knocked aside the desperate thrust of a soldier, and in the same breath, lashed out with his other blade, carving into the man’s arm.
‘Ga…! He’s fast!’
If the kobold’s movements were to be compared to anything, it would be a spinning top. Centered on his axis, arms whirling around in continuous motion. One hand deflected an opponent’s strike while the other sharply tore into his chest.
And he never paused for even an instant.
Run, slash, strike, dodge.
Every action formed a seamless circle, with almost no breaks or moments of stillness between them.
