It was now morning.
No, was it really morning now?
Yasuharu’s head was in pain from fatigue and stress as he went out of his tent.
The morning mist was beginning to fade. Beyond it, the monsters gathered into a horde and prepared to attack.
‘Call for the physician and have him do something about that awful state you are in. If the soldiers see you like this, it will affect morale.’
“…”
He tried to speak, but only a retching sound escaped from his throat. The sour taste of stomach acids rose up to his esophagus.
‘Return to the tent for now, you fool!’
Yasuhiro stumbled back into his tent at the god’s command.
Just how many times had he repeated the same night now?
The morning after he had reset, his camp had been utterly devastated through the power of the kobold and demon general. Sheto was now armed by a divine vessel, which was able to perfectly tear away their defensive walls.
After resetting things and returning to the twilight world, what awaited Yasuharu was the incessant roar of the monsters, who never allowed him a moment’s rest.
Not only that, but the kobold’s divine vessel was burning through his soldiers with magic. And so he had to reset once again. The enemy returned to making noise, and he had to send out his cavalry.
“Lord Hero, the physician has arrived.”
“Yes… Enter.”
How had this happened?
The physician made Yasharu sit down and drink some medicinal tea.
‘So the enemy has started to move. You wait there and watch. I shall take command for now.’
With sleep-deprived eyes, Yasuharu stared at his tablet screen.
The Hero’s army was now in a phalanx manipulus formation, arranging units of a hundred soldiers in a grid-like pattern to meet the enemy.
The cavalry stationed on both flanks of the main force was smaller in number than the previous day. This was because the units that had kept watch last night had been pulled back.
Despite making all of that noise the whole night, the monsters charged forward with fierce and gleaming eyes.
And at the head of the advance was the minotaur wielding an axe, and the kobold.
‘So they are finally using them as an actual striking power.’
The Seer’s voice was bitter. Until now, the demon general had never acted independently, and the enemy Hero had been so weak that it was hard to consider him a threat.
‘Let us go, Sheto. Do not fall behind!’
‘I won’t!’
The two monsters charged straight ahead at the vanguard. But due to the difference in their stride, the minotaur quickly pulled ahead, closing the gap between them and the enemy in a blink of an eye.
‘I shall repay everything you have done to us until now…with interest!’
With a thunderous roar, the axe shook the air, shattering the shields of the frontline soldiers, along with their arms. However, without even glancing at the fallen, the troops in the rear ranks surged forward to replace them.
‘Magic troops, keep the defensive spells active! Infantry, hold your shields and focus on defense! Restring the demon general’s movements!’
In an instant, waves of infantry surround the demon general. While relying on defense magic, they hurled themself against the minotaur.
‘Argh, what pests! It is like watching puppies play fighting!’
With nothing more than a twist of his body, the giant axe swung effortlessly through the air, mowing down the surrounding soldiers in a single sweet. Fully grown men were flung skyward like toy dolls, torn apart as they flew.
‘Now! Sun-pierce Strike! Fire!’
Countless prepared spells, hidden behind the wall of soldiers, were unleashed all at once in a burst of golden light.
‘I won’t let you!’
As if timing it perfectly with their movement, the charging kobold loosed the crimson arrows.
Golden and crimson arrows crossed paths with the demon general between them, and the force released by the clash sent countless sparks of light scattering in every direction.
