Chapter 231 – Popular in the village!?
After leaving the mountain, we returned to Shia’s village.
“Well, we arrived now. I will leave you for today then.”
Remlik said to us in front of the village.
Fule asked.
“You aren’t coming with us?”
“Surely not. It would make the villagers anxious. And who knows what the other Vader people will say.”
The demihumans wanted to approach Remlik.
Inside, they wanted to welcome him, as he helped demihumans.
Remlik continued.
“If you are staying in the Lang province, then perhaps we can meet at Langs again tomorrow? There is a place that we can go to.”
We were still concerned about Shia and the others. As well as the teleportation gate in Mount Leorl.
So we would stay for a few more days.
I wanted to get to know Remlik a little more.
Hopefully, I will get a chance to speak to him about Sheorl.
And so I nodded and answered.
“We would be glad to do that. Where will you take us tomorrow?”
“While it has nothing to do with the mines, there is an interesting lake. I thought I would guide you there. It is not too far, and you will not need to take much with you.”
“I see. I will look forward to it then.”
“Aye. Tomorrow then.”
And so Remlik walked back to Langs.
Rienna muttered.
“He was thinking about the villagers…how noble.”
“Yes. Lord Heal was right after all.”
Fule said as she waved at Remlik.
“He will surely be a good friend for us and for Sheorl… If there is an opportunity, he should visit us. Now, let us go into the village.”
And so we entered Shia’s village.
However, there was something strange about it.
It seemed very lively.
And when we went inside, voices rose all around us.
“These scissors cut so well! So sharp.”
“I’ve never used a wagon that was so light! And it doesn’t shake.”
“Thanks to this sickle, I was able to harvest so much wheat today!”
Apparently, the villagers were talking about the tools.
Scissors, hammers, axes… The various tools made their eyes shine.
To be surprised by something so ordinary…
However, they were tools of high quality.
They were polished as if brand new.
Either they were repaired or made from scratch.
As for who did it…
I pointed to the center of a crowd of people.
“It-it’s finished already.”
“I didn’t even see him swinging the hammer…”
The crowd was gasping and staring at a half dressed old man who sat on the ground—Mappa.
“He wears pants, but never anything on top…”
Fule muttered, and a low voice echoed.
“I am so sorry. We asked him to put something on many times.”
When I turned around, I saw a large man with a neat beard.
“Number 15. Well, as long as he’s wearing pants… More importantly, was there any problem?”
“Not in particular. Since yesterday, Mr. Mappa has been making tools for the village. I and the other golems have been repairing the houses and roads around the village.”
Number 15 said as he turned to Mappa.
“However, Mappa is incredibly skilled… So word spread in the blink of an eye, and people are visiting from other villages.”
Fule looked at Mappa and muttered.
“So he is very busy then. Well, Mappa likes working, so he probably doesn’t mind. But I wonder if he isn’t tired?”
“Do not worry, he is sleeping and eating as well. The mother of Ms. Shia, who you spoke of, shared some food with him. As well as a place to sleep last night.”
I had told Number 15 and Mappa about Shia.
He must have fixed the mothers weaving machine then.
“I see. In any case, it really does look like we can’t return to Sheorl for a few days.”
“As for that, I or the other golems can return and tell them that.”
“Thank you. They should know about Remlik and the teleportation gate. I shall write a letter, which you can deliver.”
“Certainly.
Number 15 bowed his head.
In the meantime, a demihuman girl…Shia, walked towards Mappa.
She seemed rather excited, and was holding a long strip of cloth.
“Old Mappa!! Look! Look!”
Mappa stopped and turned his head.
Shia wrapped the cloth around Mappa’s neck…I suppose it was like a scarf.
“My mother made this! You seemed very cold, so I thought we could make something. How do you like it?”
Mappa looked down at the scarf around his neck.
I didn’t know if he got hot easily, or if there was some other problem. But he did not like clothes very much.
And knowing his personality, I thought that he would take it off.
However, Mappa ran his fingers through it and smiled happily.
Perhaps it was comfortable, as he seemed to like it.
And then he bowed his head to Shia as if to show his gratitude.
Shia looked very happy at this.
“I’m so glad that you like it!”
And then the other children rushed towards Mappa.
“Old man! We picked some berries for you!”
“I made a flower crown! Put it on!”
They all had presents for Mappa.
He looked rather pleased by all of this.
In spite of his appearance, Mappa was practically the same age as them. So he was happy by this praise.
Rienna smiled and said,
“He has become quite popular.”
“It would be bad if he likes it so much that he wants to stay… Mappa is ours, and we must take him back with us.”
Fule said frantically.
And then Shia’s mother walked towards us.
“Everyone! I did not expect you to bring us a real craftsman! Thanks to him, my loom is…no, it is even better than before.”
She bowed her head.
“Thank you so much…! While we have nothing to repay you with, please stay and rest in the village. We have prepared food for you.”
While they wanted to thank us, they probably also wanted Mappa to stay a little longer.
And since it would be a hassle to camp outside, we decided to accept.
And like that, we spent the night in Shia’s village.
Thanks for the chapter! Awesome translation! May God bless you!
Clearly, if you want to see Mappa wearing clothes, it has to be the kind that a child would be happy with; a long scarf or cape, either sweatpants or spandex, and some rubber boots and oversized gloves. They want to look like super heroes.
That is so cute, little Mappa getting gifts
