Cave King – 240

Chapter 240 – Operation Begins!!

The result of the fight with Ruda was that we were trapped underground.

However, there was no problem with that.
I just needed to dig my way out.

And so I dug a new tunnel underground, and was sure to make it so that we could come out at a place that was far away from Langs.

We headed for the Leorl Mountain entrance.

There, I invited Baris as well, and we decided to plan with Remlik over what we would do now.

Remlik was astonished at the appearance of someone as strong as Baris, but he then talked about his concerns with regards to Ruda.

“As I said before, we don’t have to worry about him for some time… However, there is no way that he thinks I am dead after that. He knows how tough I can be. And so if I am not caught soon, then he might start taking demihumans as hostages.”
“In that case, it will be necessary to protect them. However…”

Baris said, and Remlik nodded.

“It is not within my power to protect every single settlement in Langs. And while most of the villages understand that it is impossible to meet the demands for food and personnel, that does not mean they would agree to side with me.”
“Even if they are fond of you, eh? In that case, you have to prove your strength.”

I said, and Remlik nodded.

“That is where you people will come in. With your strength, the monsters of Lang are nothing, yes?”
“Perhaps. But it would take too long, going from village to village and defeating monsters.”
“But what other way is there to prove my strength?”
“I know. Considering the size of this hole, I can make that thing. And the entrance at the floor is also big. …Mappa, can you do it?”

I asked, and Mappa gave me a thumbs up.
He was using the materials and tools here in order to make giant panels of metal.
So he was making the things that I would need.

A show of power… It was not something I liked to do, but there was something in Sheorl that was perfect for that purpose.

Baris then added,

“As Lord Heal says. There is no need to worry when it comes to fighting force. As for food supplies, it will mostly be seafood, but we have enough to feed ten thousand people for a few months. And I am sure we can produce more.”
“Carry seafood this far inland…? I do not understand how, but if you say that it is possible… To be honest, I also have some stored food and medicine. I was distributing it to the demihumans, little by little. As for other supplies and weapons, we have a small amount.”
“In that case, there is no need to worry about those points. However, even for us, supplying the food to the villages and protecting them is no easy thing. From what I heard, these settlements don’t even have protective walls.”
“That is true. They are not built for sieges. And their houses are so weak that Vader people could destroy them easily after transforming.”
“Lord Heal could build a wall of rocks, but it would take too much time. And so my suggestion would be to gather all of the demihumans in one area.”
“So it will be easier to protect them. However, such a place… No, I had thought of a place that would be suited for them to stay, once the uprising began.”

Remlik said as he looked up at the Leorl mountain.

I looked there as well.

“A natural fortress. Even Ruda would not be able to destroy it. Also, we could use these mines to make a temporary living area for the demihumans.”
“Aye. Of course, after we defeat the monsters.”

Baris answered.

“You can leave that to us. Though, if they show a will to coexist, then Lord Heal will handle things.”
“Yes, of course. If we can negotiate, that would be for the best.”

Upon hearing this conversation, Remlik looked puzzled.

“Coexist with monsters… You say a lot of things that I do not understand.”
“That’s… Well, once everything is over, we will invite you to our city. But right now, the protection of the demihumans must take priority. We don’t know when Ruda’s magic will recover, and so there is no time to waste.”
“Yes, I understand. We will start visiting the demihuman villages tomorrow.”
“I will ask the demihumans from Shia’s village to help as well. They cooperated with the plan to free you from prison, so I am sure they will agree.”
“Thank you… I must thank those demihumans as well. They went out of their way to help someone like me.”

Remlik said as he bowed his head, and Rienna smiled.

“It’s all because you are a man of virtue, Prince Remlik.”
“Yes, yes. They wanted to help because it was you. You should be more confident.”

Fule encouraged him as well.

Remlik bowed his head ahead.

“I am glad to hear you say that… Of course, I don’t think everything will be carried out so smoothly, but… We must make this plan succeed. And I can do it with your help.”
“Aye!”

We all answered enthusiastically.

And like this, Remlik’s battle to take back the southern provinces began.
