Chapter 248 – See Through!

As Ruda and the others left, I turned around and said,

“Everyone, prepare!”

Rienna, Fule, Ashton and Haines nodded with serious expression. They were all armed, and turned in all four directions.
We did not know which direction the enemy would come from.

And if the enemy was too strong to defeat, we would escape to Leorl with all of our might.

As we braced ourselves like this, eventually, a group of Vader people appeared from the direction that Ruda had gone in. All of them were in dragon form.

So, they intended on defeating us as a large army…
That is what I thought, but I was wrong.

They halted in their march and formed a wide formation.

Eventually, one of them stepped forward.

For a Vader King…the magic energy was too little. And while it looked like an impressive dragon, it was not as big as Ruda.

“I am Gruda!! And I challenge the rebel Remlik to a duel!”

Remlik turned to me and said,

“I suppose he wants the princes to duel and see our strength. However, I can handle Gruda. You and the others should continue to watch the surrounding area.”
“I understand.”

I nodded, and then Remlik headed toward Gruda while still in human form.

I had handed him a teleportation stone already. As well as a stone that allowed people to turn into dragons.

The Dragon Transformation Stone was from Roydon. I didn’t know what would happen if a Vader person used it. But it was insurance for now.

…Remlik was strong enough, even without transforming..

“Have a taste of lightning magic…which you could never use!!”

Gruda’s body began to glow, and lightning flashed all around him.

The light then moved towards Remlik as if to surround him.

Powerful lightning magic.
If it was against humans, multiple people would have died.

However, there was no need to worry.

Because Remlik wielded a mithril shield that had a magic energy barrier.

Not only had Mappa prepared it, but he also modified Remlik’s armor and weapons as well. He had done this by attaching magic stones that had recorded magic in them.

In the next instant, Remlik had moved so he was right in front of Gruda.

“What!?”

As Remlik swung his sword, Gruda could do nothing but watch in surprise. After that, his body fell to the ground.

But he was not cut. He had been hit in the stomach by the flat of Remlik’s sword.

“Was that a Teleportation Stone he used?”

He had thrown the stone towards Gruda and then teleported.
I had used this method when fighting against Oren.

Remlik turned to the others and said,

“Is it over then!? I thought you were more powerful than that!?”

The Vader people shuddered with rage at his words. A storm of angry shouts erupted, and then five of them jumped forward. Were they all princes? Regardless, they rushed towards Remlik.

“You are a damned halfbreed!”
“You should not have been allowed to live when you have human blood!!”

They shouted and showered Remlik with lightning magic.

However, Remlik dodged the attacks easily and defeated them one by one with his sword.

After seeing this, some of the others who were not princes came forward. But none of them were a match for Remlik. Even when they attacked him together.

I’m sure the teleportation stones helped, but it was still impressive…

Ashton muttered.

“How marvelous.”
“Aye. He is on a different level.”

Haines agreed.

On Sheorl, they were two who were the most skilled with the sword. And yet Remlik was impressing even them.

I could see a similar reaction among the Vader people.

Upon seeing Remlik easily deal with them one after another, it was clear that their enthusiasm was dying.
And after each one fell, their voices grew quieter.

As for our surroundings, I did not notice any change.
There was no other powerful presence aside from Ruda.

…Was the king not here? Had we misunderstood?

No, there were so many princes gathered here.

Besides, why didn’t Ruda attack?
It did not make sense to use their fighting force little by little like this.
Instead of having this duel, they could have surrounded all of us at once.

They must be planning something… And since Remlik was focused on fighting now, it was up to us to see through it.

And so I focused on our surroundings again.

The Vader people falling to the ground. They were not acting. It was clear that they really were unconscious…

Hmm? Was there a pattern to how they were falling?

I noticed that there was a pattern in the magic energy.

It was difficult to tell from where I was standing, but they were falling as if to create a ring that surrounded Remlik.

Like a giant magic circle… Could they mean to use the energy of the fallen in order to activate some great magic?

But that would put them in danger…
No, Ruda had previously charged at us while his men were lying on the ground. He would try to win regardless of sacrifices. Perhaps the king was like that as well.

Remlik and the rest of us have teleportation stones, so we should be able to get away.

However, the Vader people on the ground might die.

We did not want a war with them. It was our wish for Sylpheum, Vader and the demihumans to be at peace with each other.

If the king was watching… I should show him my intent through actions.

The magic circle will be completed soon… And then the magic will come.

And so I said to the others,

“…Ashton and Haines! Teleport to the back! Rienna and Fule. Cast a magic barrier!!”

Before I finished saying that, blinding lights suddenly started to rain down from the sky.
