Chapter 126 – Starting a Fire
I folded the boar skin that Pii had cleaned, and then put it in the magic bag.
“Thank you, Pii.”
“Pii!”
And then I started to carve the meat.
“Dragon. Sorry, but I’ll need you to hold it up for a little longer.”
“Ga-grau!”
“You eat the organs too, don’t you?”
“Grau.”
“Of course you do.”
It was normal for wild animals or beasts to eat them. Sometimes, that was all they ate.
“Do you like organs and meat cooked?”
“Grau!”
The dragon said it liked it both ways.
“What about you?”
“Bubo!”
Boaboa’s child was quite clear. It said that it ate the organs as well.
Apparently, they both did.
For humans, the organs of the boars here tasted very bad.
But they seemed to be popular with beasts.
“And do you prefer it cooked or raw?”
“Bubo?”
“You don’t know. …What about Boaboa?”
I asked Boaboa, who was in the back of the cave.
“Bubo?”
‘What is it?’ I heard it reply.
“Which do you prefer, cooked meat and organs, or raw?”
“Bububobo.”
“I see. You like it cooked.”
That made me wonder where it had eaten cooked meat before.
Maybe there was a mountain fire. Or it was struck by lightning.
Or maybe Boaboa could use fire magic.
As I was thinking about such things…
“Hmm. How did Boaboa eat cooked meat?”
Apparently, Kelly had wondered the same thing as well.
And then I was finished cutting the meat.
“That should do it. Thank you, dragon.”
“Grau?”
“Boaboa. We will cook the meat outside.”
“Bubobo.”
And then Boaboa came out of the cave.
“Are you sure that you don’t need to rest?”
“Bubo.”
While she assured me that she was fine, I was a little worried.
“Kelly. Could you take a look at Boaboa?”
“Ah, very well.”
“I will be cooking the meat.”
And so I put the meat in the magic bag and headed outside.
Hippolius, Boaboa’s child, and the dragon followed me.
Pii stayed with Kelly and helped to check Boaboa’s body.
“I’ll just make a simple oven…”
I used nearby rocks as materials to build it.
It was not difficult, as I didn’t care about accuracy.
“As the boar is large, the oven must be large as well.”
After all, there had to be enough for the dragon and Boaboa to eat.
That would take a very long time with a smaller oven.
“This should be good enough.”
I made an oven that would be large enough to fit the entire giant boar.
And then on top, I placed a board that was made of stone.
As I used the crafting skill, I could make something without any seams.
“As for fuel…I could use those trees.”
‘Knock them down?’
“Yes, thank you, Hipppolius.”
“Kyuo!”
In an instant, Hippolius returned to its huge form, and started to knock down the trees.
“Bui-bui!”
“Gaaah!”
Boaboa’s child and the dragon were surprised to see how big and strong Hippolius was now.
Hippolius looked at them with a smug expression as it carried the trees back to me.
“Kyuo!”
“Thank you, Hippolius. That’s a great help.”
“Kyuo!”
Hippolus immediately shrunk down again.
“Kyuo.”
“Bubui.”
And then it started to play with Boaboa’s child.
In the meantime, I inspected the trees.
“You cannot use them as fuel just as they are…”
And so I activated my crafting skill.
By using the moisture in the wood, I could make water and dry them out.
It was similar to making pure water from seawater, or ingots from ore veins.
I then put the water into a bowl.
“You can drink this.”
“Buuui.”
Boaboa’s child was surprised that the water had appeared.
“I used my crafting skill. Still, it’s fine if just a little moisture is left in the wood…”
Also, since it wasn’t being used as materials, it was fine if they were bent or cracked as well.
And so I explained to Boaboa’s child that it was simple.
“Bugobugo.”
In the meantime, Boaboa’s child drank the water thirstily.
“Bui!”
“I’m glad that you liked it.”
“Buui!”
“Okay. Some for Boaboa as well.”
And so before I started the fire, I took some water to Boaboa.
The tree that Hippolius knocked down was very big.
And so there had been a lot of moisture inside.
And so I placed a large bucket of water in front of Boaboa.
“Boaboa. You can drink this if you are thirsty.”
“Bubobo.”
“Don’t mention it. Also, the food will be ready soon, so just wait a little longer.”
I then turned the tree into firewood.
This was also done with the crafting skill.
It was easy work, not requiring any precision. And so preparations were finished in no time.
Thanks for the treat. 🖖
Thanks for the chapter!
