“Ha…hahahahaha!? Just me!?”
The blood rushed to his head then, and he dashed towards the cliff. He didn’t care if it was crumbling.
“Gah!”
Something exploded on his shoulder. While he didn’t care about the pain, even Kaide could not help but be surprised when he saw what had pierced him.
“An arrow?”
“Climb, if you want. But, I will shoot.”
It looked like such a weak shortbow. Surely it should not be able to pierce through his muscle. However, he then saw that the arrowhead glowed white.
“Tsk! Some kind of charm then!”
Gaide swung his glub and struck the side of the cliff.
“Ahhhh!”
Part of the cliffside crumbled, and the kobold frantically moved away. The horses neighed, and the surviving humans screamed.
He ignored them all as he picked up a large rock.
“Take this!”
It was closer to a boulder as it flew through the air and into the trees.
“Shit!”
“Gahaha! Damned runt! Did you think you could kill me with one arrow!”
He pulled it out and crushed it in his hand.
The kobold was a coward who would never come down anyway. As long as he threw rocks like this, he could deal with the arrows.
“Wait a little longer, Kesh! I’ll lay this kobold by your grave!”
But just then, Kesh’s words returned to his enraged mind.
‘It’s an order directly from the Demon King!’
They were supposed to capture the kobold and bring him back.
However, that didn’t matter now. The kobold had killed his friend.
“I will…kill…”
What was this? His body suddenly felt very hot.
He had paid his shoulder no mind at first, but it was pulsating now.
“Da-damn it… What did…”
His knees gave in. His vision blurred. And though he saw the kobold jump down from the cliff, he seemed so far away.
“Was it…poison…?”
Impossible. Normal poison wouldn’t affect an ogre. A kobold would just use grass and fruits. It shouldn’t do more than slow him down a little.
In disbelief, Gaide looked at the shoulder wound.
“Uh…ah?”
His reddish-black skin had turned purple. The open wound was melting, and blood was pouring from it.
“You…what did…”
“That, wyvern poison.”
The words seemed to echo in his empty head.
Wyvern poison? Why did he have such a thing? Not only was it difficult to acquire, but if you made a mistake while handling it, you might melt your own flesh.
“Was told to only use it, on big ones. Because it’s too effective.”
“Wha…what are you…”
The pain was so strong that his shoulder felt like it would fall off. His whole body seemed to burn as if engulfed in flames.
But the kobold continued to look at him coldly.
“I see…wyvern poison…works like this…”
While he continued to aim with his bow, the kobold was looking at him any more. Or rather, he was only looking at the wound, as if inspecting it.
The coldness of a hunter who has already taken down his prey.
“Wh-what…are you…?!”
Still, Gaide raised his club desperately.
He could not lose to someone like this. Not to a weakling kobold.
Suddenly, the kobold swung his cape and…
“Gaha…”
An unexpected assault of heat. And then Gaide lost consciousness completely.
“What!?”
The ogre’s head suddenly blew away, and the enchanted cape cut through the air.
He frowned as the burnt smell drifted through the air, and then he turned in the direction that the magic had come from.
Behind the armed group, there was a little boy who was looking at him. He wielded a long wooden staff and wore leather armor. And he had a flat face that Sheto was not familiar with.
“…You! Seer’s Hero!”
He said, and then quickly looked around. There were rocks that the ogre had thrown, and the shattered wagons would restrict his movement.
However, it would be the same for the Hero. As long as he moved away from the debris, the enemy would not be able to chase him too easily.
“How…did you know, I was here!”
He needed to buy some time. Sheto asked while slowly moving back.
“Hey…hey, wait!”
“…What?”
The Hero suddenly placed his staff on the ground and raised his hands to show that he meant no harm.
“What do you want!”
“No, uh, I don’t mean to fight you! Put down your weapon!”
“I see.”
He pulled back harder and aimed at the enemy’s throat. It had three layers of blessings.
“St-stop! I really mean it! I won’t do anything!”
“Ah. I see.”
He wore gloves with expensive stones and runes. The boots were likely enchanted as well. Even the leather armor must have some kind of protection.
He would not be able to take him down in one hit. The poison had been carefully wrapped and sealed in small quantities, so it would take time to use it. While he could not allow a counterattack, the other followers were also worrying.
“I don’t want your experience points or Lady Salia’s territories! Believe me!”
“You, say that. But your god, Seer. Thinking the same way?”
“What are you talking about!? My god is…”
‘Sheto!’
The scream sounded in his ears.
‘Put away your arrow! This Hero is different!’
“Bu-but, this one, the Seer’s…”
‘You damned fool! He is not the Seer’s Hero!’
“…Huh?”
Salia sighed and explained it to Sheto.
‘His name is Keita Saegusa. The Hero of Canila Farada, ‘Fingers that pick blighted leaves.’’
Stunned, Sheto lowered his bow. And then the bow approached.
He smiled awkwardly and then opened his mouth.
“Hello, Sheto. I am Keita Saegusa.
Yay, a new face is introduced.
Thanks for the chapter
