Chapter 153 – Making the roof and walls
I used my crafting skill to build the wall from the bottom.
And I didn’t forget to leave spaces for the windows.
Later, I could install windows made of glass that could open and close.
I also planned to have shutters.
“…”
I worked silently on the walls.
When that was done, I moved on to the roof.
Without resting, I continued.
With the walls, the important thing was to have a slant.
I had heard that it snowed a lot in this area.
Without a slant, it was possible that the snow would pile up, and the roof would cave in.
The direction was also important.
If we dropped the snow in the courtyard, then it would likely be filled up very quickly.
“Good. That should do it for now.”
I had only finished about one fifth of the hallways.
“Finished?”
“For now. But I still have to attach the windows. And I want to use metal on the roof.”
It was difficult to stop rain with wood alone.
And so it would be best to process metal into thin sheets that do not rust easily, and cover the roof with it.
It would also make it easier for the snow to slide off.
“I see.”
“Fio and Shiro. Thank you for taking care of the children.”
“Ehehe.”
“Wuff.”
I patted them on the head.
After eating and playing in the mud, the wolf cubs looked sleepy.
“…”
“Pii…”
“Wou…”
Kuro was half asleep already.
As they were still so young, eating a lot and sleeping a lot was basically their job.
And so I felt relieved watching them sleep.
I petted the cute wolf cubs and then went back to work.
I was making the same thing, so the process was also the same.
Appraise the materials and use the crafting skill to build the walls and roof.
I repeated this three times until four fifths were completed.
“I have to make sure that Boaboa can go through.”
I would make the roof high and add a large door.
This was, Boaboa could access the courtyard, even though she couldn’t fly.
It would also be useful for bringing things in or taking them out.
“Finished?”
“No, not yet…”
Fio asked, and then I thought of something.
“…That might work too.”
“It will?”
“Yes. There could be one spot without any walls or roof.”
If there was no roof, the hallway would not be a ring. It would be like a C.
And it would be troublesome to pass through it during rain or snow.
“But you could just run, since it is short…”
Or you could just go in the opposite direction, even if it takes a little longer.
“It might be best to just block it with a wall and add a door.”
It would save food materials.
And if it became necessary, I could change it later.
“So it’s finished?”
“No, not yet. Fio, Shiro. Wait just a little longer.”
“Okay.”
“Wuff.”
Fio and Shiro were sitting on the now dried ground of the courtyard.
And the wolf cubs were huddled together and sleeping.
Kuro was lying on his back, while Ruru was sleeping on her stomach.
And Roro’s head was resting on top of Ruru. It was very cute.
“Well, I decided to not make it a ring, so I better close it up then.”
I would make a wall out of wood and then attach a door.
It would be convenient if it was a large door.
“It’s a good thing I made the floor out of stone instead of wood.”
I appraised the wood materials and then used the crafting skill to build the wall and block off the hallway.
And I added the door as well.
“That’s good.”
“Finished?”
“Not yet. I still need to add the metal to the roof, and install the glass windows.”
“Oh…”
Fio tried opening and closing the newly made door.
Each hallway had a door leading into the courtyard, and a door going outside.
You could enter from anywhere and go out from anywhere.
“Hmmm. Is this the biggest one?”
“Yes. That’s the biggest door.”
“Here!”
Fio went in and then went out.
And then she ran off to Hippolius’s house.
I suppose she was testing the hallways.
On the other hand, Shiro stayed next to the sleeping wolf cubs.
But she wasn’t sleeping. She was sniffing and licking them.
Shiro was smart, and would keep them safe.
Thanks for the treat.
Thanks to the chapter!
