Chapter 160 – A Short Rest
Kelly drank the water and sighed.
“Thank you. Chilled water really is nice. It tends to get lukewarm in a bottle.”
“I’m glad to hear it. Ije! Are you thirsty? I have water.”
I shouted to Ije, who was in one of the houses.
“Thank you. I go over there.”
Ije returned with an armful of clothing.
“Want to dry in the sun.”
“I see. They were in there for a long time, after all. Wait one moment.”
I took out a clean cloth from my back and placed it on the ground.
And then I took the clothes from Ije and laid them out on top.
This was to get rid of bugs and moisture.
Once that was done, I handed Ije a cup of water.
“Thank you. I forgot, that I thirsty.”
“It happens when you are so focused.”
“Mr. Theo should drink too.”
“That’s true. I should not forget either. Pii?”
‘Don’t need.’
“I see.”
It is very dangerous to forget to drink water in the summer.
Many Adventurers have fainted because of it.
It used to happen in my old village.
“We might as well rest now. We can eat some snacks too.”
Well, it was just cooked meat. Also, some mountain vegetables that Ije had cooked deliciously.
For us, there was no real difference between a meal and a snack.
And so I took out the plates and distributed the food.
Everyone gathered under the shade and drank cool water and had a light meal.
“Weather nice!”
“Yes. There isn’t a single cloud.”
“Better than rain!”
“Indeed.”
Apparently, Fio really liked sunny days.
When she was living with the demon wolves, cold rainy days could lead to death.
So it was no wonder she prefers the sun.
“Fields will be bad if there no rain.”
“Tell me if the soil gets too dry. We will carry water.”
“Thank you.”
With a magic bag, it will not be too difficult.
It would be best if we could use the sewage water that was purified by the slimes. Unfortunately, it was quite far.
It was not impossible. But it would take a lot of materials.
“Ije. How were the clothes?”
“Some were eaten by bugs. But most were nice.”
They say that houses deteriorate quickly once people stop living in them.
And clothes were probably quick on the list of things to get ruined.
But it seemed like most had survived this time.
Ije was wagging her tail happily.
‘Pii eat bugs?”
“Hmm? Ah, right. Pii is good at that. Alright, thank you.”
“Pii!”
Pii jumped off of my shoulder.
It then went over to the clothes, and stretched out its body over them.
Pii could not only eat the bug, but the mold that was not visible as well.
It could also remove any dampness.
“We can just leave the maintenance of the clothes to Pii then.”
‘Leave it to me. Pii-pii.’
Pii jiggled happily.
“Mr. Theo. Need shoes?”
“Shoes, eh? It would be nice to have them. But the sizes will have to match… Though, perhaps they can be adjusted.”
“I see. Okay.”
“Especially winter shoes. Well, summer shoes as well…”
“Okay!”
In general, the shoes worn by Adventurers were for spring and summer.
While some might have shoes for winter, others would not.
It was a difficult decision, packing them when you had such limited space.
“I would be grateful if you brought some of the ruined clothes and shoes as well.”
“Why?”
“Because it is easier to fix them with the crafting skill, then make them from scratch.”
“Okay!”
Ije replied cheerfully.
I thought she might be sentimental, remembering the family that she lost. But it was not the case.
Though, perhaps she was acting cheerfully on purpose.
As Ije slowly drank the water, I patted her on the head. And then I stood up and went over to Pii.
“Pii. How is it?”
‘Finished!’
“That was fast.”
“Pii-pii.”
Pii chirped happily, and then he returned to my shoulder.
I petted him, and then picked up the clothes.
They were dried well.
I tried smelling them too. There was no scent of mold or anything unpleasant.
“Yes. Looks good.”
“Pii.”
“How is it? All clean?”
Ije asked after she had finished her water and food.
“Yes. It should be fine now.”
“Good.”
I picked up some children’s clothes.
“Fio, come over here.”
“What? What?”
I held the clothes in front of Fio.
“It seems…like the right size.”
It was a little large, but she would likely wear multiple layers during the winter, so it was better that way.
Besides, she would grow in no time.
“Good! Ije wore that long time ago.”
“I see. You clearly took good care of it.”
“Yes. Happy that Fio will wear it.”
“Yay! Thank you!”
Fio wagged her tail happily, and Ije smiled with delight.
Thanks for the treat.
