Paintbrush Summoner – 133

Chapter 133 – Capital City Nadar

“Wow…it’s huge…”

Those were the first words that Menew said upon arriving in the capital city of Nadar.

The checkpoint was separated into three different gates. One was for travelers and Adventurers, like Menew’s party. One was for the country’s farmers and fishermen bringing in their produce, And the third was for accepting imported goods from merchants.

When they went through the checkpoint, there was a large plaza that faced a large street. Here, there were rows of buildings such as the Merchants Guild, Adventurers Guild, Medical Guild and Farmers Guild. The buildings continued far off towards the castle at the very end.

The castle had been built on top of a mountain, and so though it was far away, they could see it clearly as it was so big.

(But the Wind Clan has influence here… I better stay away from the castle. I do not want to meet any of them.)

They did not need to go close to the castle in order to find an inn. And they could leave the carriage at the Merchants Guild. They should be able to continue the journey without any problem.

And so they headed to the Merchants Guild first in order to drop off the carriage and have them take care of the horses. At the same time, they asked about an inn with good food, and were gladly given a recommendation. Apparently, Ling had power here as well.

Perhaps due to all the carriage traffic, the dirt streets were hardened here. Regardless, the scale was massive. The streets were crammed with stalls, and they entered one alley in order to look for the inn.

Once they were off the main street, the traffic was not as severe. And they found the inn in a lonely corner. It was a two-story building that looked plain on the outside. There was only a small sign above the door.

As they planned to stay long, in order to go to the dungeons, the four of them took three rooms and paid with a gold coin. Menew and Ralph shared one room, Totto had a room to set up his atelier, while Mofusen and Kanon shared another room.

The inn was very welcoming to long term guests, and they were given rooms that were next to each other. While the rooms were not connected, it would make it easier to talk to each other, and so they were grateful. The fact that each room had its own bathroom was proof of how prosperous trade was here. It was the kind of place that merchants would stay.

Once they had all settled in, they gathered together in Mofusen’s room.

Stan and Kanon lay on the ground playing as the others decided on their future plans.

“I think that we should go to the Adventurers Guild first. If we don’t know how long the journey will be, then we cannot shop for supplies.”
“Indeed. We still have plenty of meat, and we bought fish as well… The only thing we might buy is vegetables.”

“We’ll be mountain climbing, won’t we? Is there anything else we might need?”
“Perhaps Mofusen and Totto need a staff? It will be difficult if there are steep paths.”
“Then we should buy ropes as well. And from what I saw, there are not many trees. So we’ll need firewood… Ah, I suppose we can just ask Mr. Wal.”

“Yes, no problem. Just give me one block of wood and I can duplicate it.”

After discussing this, they decided to go and visit the Adventurers Guild.

As they had raised their rank to A, there should be no problem. And if they happened to meet Sety, they could give her plate to her.

(Well, I doubt we can meet her again so easily… Huh, is that her!?)

As he opened the doors of the guild and entered, his eyes met Sety’s, who was eating lunch. She raised her hand to them, and so they walked over to her table.

“This reunion came sooner than I expected. Have you been well? Hah. As if it’s been long enough for anything to change.”

She chuckled while draining her cup of ale. She had originally gone off on foot, but managed to catch a ride on a wagon after that.

“Ah, Sety. This is from the Guild Master at Jupno. You’re A-Rank no.”

She had been a B-Rank and was struggling to raise it. So she was happy to accept the plate.

“Wonderful! While it’s fine right here, there are some dungeons on the frontier where you cannot enter without a high-rank. Now things will be a lot easier for me.”

“It’s hard to get into an A-Rank party?”

It was unusual for Ralph to take interest in such things. He had originally been a knight, and did not have much knowledge about being an Adventurer.

“It is. In general, these parties are made up of Adventurers who have been working together since they were low-rank. They have to go in larger groups because dungeons are dangerous, but they do not like to bring in outsiders who might cause trouble.”

“We can’t follow you to every dungeon, but if you happen to want to go to the ancient dungeon, we’ll go with you.”

Just as Menew said this, all the voices around them fell silent. And then a drunk Adventurer approached them hesitantly.

“Ancient dungeon… Do you people mean to take Tromerai…?”

To Menew, it sounded like he was asking them if they wanted to die. Apparently, everyone had heard him. He nodded with wide eyes.

“Don’t! Don’t do it! The Nadar mountains are very dangerous right now!”

“There is a chimera prowling in that territory. You’ll die before you even reach the dungeon.”

The other Adventurers joined in.

Menew was not someone who would be scared of a chimera. However, the problem was whether or not they would be able to get permission.

After hearing all of them, they headed to the counter with Sety. For now, it was best to hear the Guild’s view on the matter.
