Day 94: The Wagon and the White Cat.
Holy Era 6102, Month of the Seven Night Horses, 16th day.
Weather: Cloudy
When I woke up in the morning and stepped out of the tent, Ms. Noa was cooking breakfast.
Ah, I will help too! Huh? I don’t see Ms. Nico anywhere.
I asked Ms. Noa about it, and she said that Ms. Nico went to gather herbs… She really likes them, huh?
After we finished eating, we continued our journey towards Marga Town.
As it was a cloudy day, it was not too hot, which was nice.
Now we wouldn’t have to rely on Ms. Nico’s potions.
After walking down the road for some time, I heard the sounds of clanging.
When I turned to look in the direction of the sound, I saw that there was a small wagon up ahead.
It was about half the size of an ordinary wagon. And there was a large black dog sleeping next to it.
That was an odd combination…it seemed interesting!
Thinking this, we called out to the wagon while approaching it. And then the sounds stopped and someone came out from under the wagon.
What appeared was…a white cat!?
As I looked stunned, the white cat asked if something was the matter. I looked at us suspiciously.
The cat talked!? Ah, uh! So it was a Cait Sith!
I had never met one before, and so I was surprised.
The Cait Sith chuckled at my reaction and agreed that they were rare in these parts.
We introduced ourselves then, and the Cait Sith said that its name was Mr. Bran.
Mr. Bran said that he was also making his way to Marga Town.
And he had just been repairing his wagon when we found him.
So it had broken down… It made me think about past escort missions…
The structure of wagons and carriages were surprisingly complex.
If the wheels broke, then an amateur could not repair them.
And so Mr. Bran was in trouble.
…And we were nowhere near any villages, so he would not be able to call a craftsman to repair it.
But since we had met here, I wish there was something we could do to help…
As I wondered what to do, Ms. Nico said, ‘Shall I fix it?’… Wait, you can do that!?
I asked her, and she nodded with a smile.
After getting Mr. Bran’s permission, Ms. Nico crawled under the wagon.
Tong-tong. Clang-clang. The sounds rang at a steady rhythm from under the wagon.
After some time had passed, Ms. Nico came out from under the wagon, her nose stained with grease and a smile on her face.
I fixed it! Wait, that was so quick!? Even Mr. Bran’s eyes had widened.
He hesitantly had the dog draw the wagon and…it worked!!
That’s amazing, Ms. Nico. Mr. Bran was overjoyed, swaying that he would make it in time now.
He said goodbye to us and hurried on his way.
But before leaving, he handed us some cat coins and a single card to show his gratitude.
And he said that we should visit him in Marga Town.
…Now then, it was time for us to go as well. We were falling a little behind schedule.
It was slightly past sundown when we arrived at the planned camping sight.
This time, Ms. Nico helped with the tent.
She said that she wanted to help because it looked fun…
Well, I hope you help from now on… Alright?
In any case, like that, our day ended safely.
