Day 95: An intruder crashing my bath…
Holy Era 6102, Month of the Seven Night Horses, 17th day.
Weather: Sunny
It’s been three days since we left the town of Ruffa, but the road ahead is still long.
As it would take ten days by carriage, it would take even longer on foot…
…Still, it really is hot today… The sweat is pouring like a waterfall.
But Ms. Nico, I don’t need the medicine. Please put it away.
At noon, we rested under the shade of a tree, and I spread out my map.
For lunch, we had the lunch boxes that Ms. Noa prepared in the morning. It was bread with meat and vegetables inside.
Hmm. Perhaps I could make this too.
I would ask Ms. Noa to teach me next time.
While eating, I looked for a river or lake on the map.
During these past few days, I was only able to wipe myself with a cloth, so I wanted to take a bath.
As I searched the map, I finally found a river that was a short distance away.
…Well, I suppose we could go there.
After walking for some time, we arrived at the river.
The water was clear, and the current was nice and calm.
There was also a forest upstream, and so we would be able to hide from the main road if we went over there.
And so we left the road for now and went into the forest.
We walked a short while and then found a promising spot for bathing.
It was perfectly concealed.
Now then, there’s no time to waste!
But just to be safe, we took turns.
The order was me, Ms. Noa and then Ms. Nico.
Alright, I’ll go in first then.
I took off my equipment and clothes. La-la-la-la ♪
Ah…I’ll take my shortsword too, just in case.
I strapped the blade to my shoulder belt and went into the water…! It is freezing!!
It was so unexpected.
Still, it was kind of nice when you got used to it.
My sweaty skin and sticky hair felt refreshed.
As I enjoyed my bath like that, I suddenly heard a noise nearby!!
When I turned to look, I saw that there was a single pale horse looking at me from the other side of the river.
It was a very pretty horse. But not a normal one…
Otherwise, it would not have that fish-like tail.
…It must be a kelpy.
Kelpy were water spirits that looked a lot like horses. However, they were only similar in appearance.
They were horrifying water demons with a nature so vicious that they would even eat humans.
And so while keeping my guard up and my eyes fixed on it, I slowly got out of the water.
I grabbed a clot to cover myself, and then Ms. Noa and Ms. Nico realized that something had happened and came running.
The kelpy had continued to stare at me, but it now seemed to see that it was at a disadvantage, and it turned around.
As I dashed away, I saw that it was headed upstream.
…What a relief… I was worried that it would turn into a fight… After all, I’m not wearing any clothes!
After that, we all finished bathing, and Ms. Noa made a surprising suggestion.
She said that we should follow that kelpy up the river.
If we did everything right, then it was possible to tame it like a normal horse.
But it would be much more powerful and capable.
I see… I was just starting to feel how painful walking was… Let’s do it!
Ms. Nico, why are you so surprised? This is what Adventurers do!!
—And like that, we started our plan to capture the kelpy.
Today’s earnings and expenses:
