Shinmai Boukensha – 100

Day 100: Going into danger to avoid danger.

Holy Era 6102, Month of the Seven Night Horses, 22nd day.

Weather: Sunny

In spite of the fear of bandits, we managed to pass the night safely.

Perhaps I was worrying too much, but there was nothing wrong with being cautious.

As we all ate breakfast, we spread out a map and debated on the day’s route.

To be honest, I hesitated at the idea of continuing along the road.

It was like asking to be targeted.

However, it would also be dangerous to go off the road without thinking.

We did not know where these bandits were hiding.

On top of that, if they really did have an Adventurer with them, they might be setting traps.

A safe route…it was a difficult problem.

As we troubled over this, Mr. Bran started to draw circles on the map.

He said these were the different points that bandits had attacked in the past. He had been told this from other merchants he met on the road.

He even knew the dates and times of the attack… In that case, we could make some predictions.

If Mr. Bran’s information was correct, then the bandits generally appeared once every five days.

The carriage we found yesterday had already been there for several days…

In other words, the bandits would be searching for new prey soon.

But there was no pattern to how they moved. They just attacked and then relocated over and over again.

We could not even tell if they had a base or not…

It would’ve been easier if they were just simple bandits operating out of one hideout…

But most likely, they had a separate unit that carried off the loot after the attacks.

So perhaps they were a very large group of bandits…

Hmmm. I really did not want to meet them… What should we do…

As I thought about it, Mr. Mavro said something and pointed to one part of the map.

It was a rocky area inside of a forest that was a short distance away from the road.

According to him, there was a dungeon entrance there.

A dungeon!? As I looked surprised, Mr. Bran seemed to remember something.

When I asked him, he said that there was a special dungeon entrance there.

In fact, this dungeon had multiple entrances.

And one of them led to the outskirts of Marga Town.

…In other words, if we went through this dungeon, we could reach the town without meeting up with the bandits.

…I suppose facing monsters was easier than facing humans.

Should we continue on the road and hope we didn’t meet the bandits…

Or should we risk the danger of the dungeon…

While we considered it, Mr. Bran took out another map.

Is this…a dungeon map?

Mr. Bran said that it was old but still usable.

When I looked closer, I saw that the dungeon had a surprisingly simple structure.

As for the monsters lurking there, it was demihumans and beast types…

And no matter which entrance you went in, you only needed to go through one floor to get out…

Alright! We decided. Let’s go through this dungeon!

We have a map and tools. We should be able to do it!

There will be no problem if we just put Mr. Bran’s things into Ms. Noa’s storage.

Alright, there was no time to waste!

We should reach the entrance by today!

…And like that, we started the dungeon exploration in order to avoid the bandits.

Today’s earnings and expenses:

Nothing.

              ————————–

Balance: 4 silver, 1 copper

90 cat coins

(-人-;) …I hope we can get through the dungeon without any problems.
