Day 99: TraceTraces…
Holy Era 6102, Month of the Seven Night Horses, 21th day.
Weather: Sunny
Today, we would start our job of escorting Mr. Bran to the town of Marga.
I actually don’t really like escort missions. Still, I will do my best.
While Mr. Mavro the Cu Sith pulled the wagon, we rode beside them on the kelpy.
Mr. Mavro was surprisingly fast, and so we were bound to arrive at Marga in a few days.
I really hope we make it without encountering any bandits…
That is what I thought, but… The encounter came around midday.
Not far up ahead, there was a single, mercilessly destroyed carriage.
Crows were flying all around above it, and we saw a few stray dogs as well.
When we finally reached it, the animals all scattered.
I stopped the kely and we climbed down in order to inspect the carriage.
Seen up close, it really was horrible… There were traces of blood everywhere.
Ugh… The corpses were partially even by the animals.
By the looks of it, a few days must have passed since the attack.
Obviously, everything of value had been taken.
…If only we at least knew who these people were…
As I was searching, Ms. Noa found a brand.
Hmmm? A scale? I have never seen it before?
However, Mr. Bran recognized it.
Apparently, it was from one of the companies in Marga Town.
A large store that sold jewels and liquor.
Hmm. It was confirmed then. This carriage was attacked by bandits.
If they were only carrying food, then animals or monsters would have been a possibility.
But only bandits would take jewels and liquor.
After searching a little more, we found a few Merchant Guild Cards.
They likely belonged to the owners of the carriage. It was a good thing we found them.
It will make things easier when we contact the Merchants Guild.
Now, we could not stay here forever. So it was time to depart.
Somehow, we managed to arrive at the planned camp site by evening.
As the sun was already quite low, we hurriedly prepared to camp for the night.
Before dinner, when all preparations were ready, we made sure that everyone was together and then talked about what we would do.
Of course, this concerned the matter of the bandits. There were two problems currently.
First was that a few days had passed since the carriage was attacked.
And so the bandits would be searching for their next prey.
That meant we would have to be more careful than ever.
The other problem was that we had not seen signs of any escort.
Adventurers were usually hired for that, but there had been no guild cards.
It was possible that they survived and went to the town to make a report. But there was also another possibility.
In other words, perhaps the Adventurer was working with the bandits.
Just then, everyone’s faces grew tense.
So everyone had been thinking about it too. It was too strange.
There was no way a company wouldn’t hire guards if they were carrying precious stones.
And so the Adventurer protecting them should have been attacked as well.
But there were no traces of that…
It was possible that the road ahead of us would be even more severe than I thought.
Today’s earnings and expenses:
Nothing.

(ノ_-;) Hah… These bandits were incredibly dangerous. I hope we don’t meet them.
