Kamigami – 72 Part 8

While feeling as if he had become an acrobat from a circus, Razab let out a wry smile as he gripped the reins.

His subordinates were riding in a circle around the lizardmen. The enemy were occasionally hurling spears at them, but as they kept a distance and were constantly moving, none of the attacks were able to hit.

‘Surely we are not meant to just run in a circle around the enemy like this?’

One of his men asked in a worried voice. The lizards were holding up their weapons and preparing to use their mobility in order to strike.

‘Wait a little longer. The Hero will give the order.”

‘I’ve confirmed the formation. Without alerting the enemy, assemble a four-man unit of cavalry that I have selected. And have them carry out hit and run attacks.’

“Understood. ‘You heard the command! Those who have been selected by the Hero, go out and attack!’

The dog tags flashed, and some of the riders moved out of the ring and attacked the lizardmen. The scimitars swung down, slashing at anything in their path.

However, the enemy blocked the blows and prepared for a counterattack.

‘That is to be expected. Next unit, commence the attack.’

“Do not balk! Continue the attack!”

The attack units broke away from the encirclement and once again rushed the lizardmen. However, their attacks were blocked with ease.

Still, without a moment’s rest, the next group charged forward, and then they were followed by yet another.

Gradually, the lizards had little freedom to move, and they were forced to stand their ground and brace themselves for the incoming attacks.

‘Charge into the enemy’s center. The purpose is to separate, not attack.’

“Understood.”

A light flashed at his chest, and then Razab dug in his spurs, and tucked the spear under his arm.

“Everyone, follow me!”

After giving the signal, he surged straight into the horde of lizards. His subordinates, spears in hand, also charged forward as a single mass.

“Scatter!”

The lizards twisted away with impressive agility, slipping away from the enemy’s path. But in the wake of the charge, the light cavalry’s curved blades swung, cutting down several lizardmen who had not been able to escape in time.

‘Continue splitting the encirclement. Captain Razab! Keep pressing the attack on the enemy.’

“Understood!”

He wheeled around swiftly and once again, split the enemy formation. Within the large circle, numerous smaller partitions formed, leaving the lizardmen isolated inside the ring of enemy soldiers.

‘All of you, maintain your speed and split into attack units and encirclement units while you are moving. Their abilities as individuals may be high, but numbers will make them manageable.’

Through the Hero’s calm and precise commands, the feat that truly did resemble a circus performance was brought to completion.

Was it magic? No, this was the power of the gods.
