Some of the people were busy in the morning
“…It looks like he did something to make Ms. Lugretta upset…”
I muttered while washing my face.
After that, I greeted the servants and the others, and then checked up on the fenrirs.
The children had really become fond of them…or was it the other way around? Regardless, I could hear their happy voices in the morning.
I then helped Ms. Helena and the cooks, along with Liza and Tilura, and then it was time for breakfast.
Even while we were working, I could hear a voice in the distance. ‘Help me!’ ‘Hey, don’t ignore me!’ ‘Ah, well. Nevermind then.’ ‘Uh, this might be a state of emergency…’
Of course, due to Ms. Lugretta’s stern expression, no one dared to go close to him.
Regardless, we then settled down to eat.
We had a wooden, foldable table. I sat with Mr. Euto, Claire, Liza and Tilura.
Leo and Sherry were with the fenrirs.
“Well, let’s eat then.”
Mr. Euto said as if nothing had happened.
As for what he had meant by an emergency earlier… Well, it was easy to imagine. Thankfully, Ms. Lugretta had let him down just in time, and so the worst case scenario was avoided. Though, it made me think that this kind of thing had happened several times before.
“Ahh, it is so nice to be able to eat so much delicious food. It is not like this when it’s just me and Lugretta traveling together.”
We were eating orc meat, bread and vegetable soup.
It was simple fare compared to what we ate at the mansion, and yet it was quite delicious.
Liza had helped, and nothing special was done during the preparations… So was it skill alone that made it so good…?
Perhaps the meat just tasted good on its own, even without many condiments.
But Ms. Helen and the cooks probably had the most to do with it… The meat was so soft that it melted in your mouth.
“I would think the joy of traveling with just two people is that you can pack lightly.”
Mused Claire as she ate. Apparently, she was interested in their journey.
She also glanced at me a few times. Perhaps she wanted us to do something similar.
They could do it because they were stronger than any monster. But if it was Claire, then we might need some guards.
Well, maybe Leo would be enough? Though, there were things she couldn’t do that a guard could…
“Hmm. Yes, it’s true that packing lightly is nice. But…sometimes it can feel a little lonely.”
“Really?”
“The food is always quick and simple. And we have to take turns with the night watch.”
“If there are few people, then you have to do a lot by yourself, huh?”
“Oh, have you been on a two-person journey, Takumi?”
“With Phillip and…uh, it was three people. Though, it wasn’t as if they did everything for me, like the servants here.”
The servants really did help us a lot.
Even if we helped, they did most of the work.
When I went to Bleiyu village, Nicholas definitely was more active than me.
“Hmm. As I am always surrounded by guards and servants like this, it does make me want to see what it is like. Though, I know that it is difficult…”
“It is not bad to be curious. But Hart will be sad if something happened to you. So you must be patient, Claire.”
“Yes…”
It wasn’t that he was overprotective.
There were really monsters in this world, and humans who were up to no good.
Claire could not use a sword, and even if she could use magic…well, I would still be worried about her.
But then again, Mr. Ekenhart was even more important, and he often traveled in small numbers.
Of course, he was also a master swordsman.
He could easily overwhelm Nicholas, who was quite skilled himself. In fact, he would move so quickly that I could barely see his sword…
Besides, with that beard, most people would stay away from him.
One glare from him, and bandits would run away.
“I am sure there will be more opportunities to travel soon.”
After all, Claire would be the one traveling to other towns and villages in order to advertise and negotiate.
Riruru and Sherry would be with her, as would others.
Of course, that was not the same as traveling as a pair or trio…
