Day 11: Recommended Quest

Holy Era 6102, Month of the Moon Rabbit, 24th day.
Weather: Cloudy with a chance of rain

It’s another day of unfine weather. Will these days continue for long?
Well, regardless of how the weather is, I still have to work.

And so I went to the guild, but…
There aren’t any herb gathering quests… Why is that?
I thought they had them all year round.

When I asked the lady at the guild, she said that they were temporarily halting both orders and the purchasing of them. The reason for this was that there was not an infinite supply of momija grass. And so they regularly stopped quests so that the resources could recover. That made sense. However, it was very troublesome for me…because I had meant to gather more herbs in order to make money.

As I wondered what I should do, the lady suggested a certain quest to me.
It was an escort quest for a carriage that was heading towards the Merchants Guild in a neighboring town.
They were hiring three people. The reward was 1 silver per person and you received 30 bronze in advance. There were no limits on rank, however, you did need a recommendation from the guild.

As for the neighboring town, it was a distance that would allow a round trip by horse within a day, but it would likely take around two days by carriage?
Two days…considering that we would have to camp outside, it seemed like a decently lucrative job?
However, there was one single problem…with these kinds of escort missions, it wasn’t just monsters that attacked you.
Yes, we would have to be careful of bandits as well. Bandits…in other words, you would have to fight humans. Of course, I had no experience doing that.

As I pondered this with a serious expression, the lady seemed to read my mind and so she told me something.
Aside from helping beginners like me grow, it’s also a quest that they do in collaboration with the Merchants Guild. And so they purposely chose cargo that is less likely to be targeted by bandits.
On top of that, some B-Rank Adventurers with plenty of experience would be going with us, so I didn’t need to worry about anything happening.
The lady who always worried about me recommended it. And so it must be pretty safe.

After thinking about it, I decided to accept the escort quest.
While I am a little worried, this is a road that I’ll have to take eventually anyway. If that’s the case, then I might as well get some experience while I can.

As they still needed to find one more person today, we would be leaving tomorrow.
Uhh…but I had come here to find work for today…
Huh? I should make sure that I’m prepared for tomorrow? How heartless…

Perhaps it was because my face looked so miserable, the lady let out a sigh and said that she would give me a quest this one time.
It was a simple quest to deliver things in the town.
That was unusual… As these quests were not only easy and safe, but paid rather well, you couldn’t get them unless you lined up at the guild in the early morning before opening time.
I looked at the delivery date wonderingly and then I realized it. Apparently, the delivery date had been advanced so that I could get it.
I was so, so grateful. I thanked the lady, accepted the items and went out in order to deliver them. Given the amount, I should be finished before evening.

Once I was finished, I made preparations for tomorrow so that I could go to bed early.
I’m at the usual inn which is a candidate for my main base.
