Shinmai Boukensha – 21

Day 21: Warned to Stop!!
Holy Era 6102, Month of the Marsh Dragon, 4th day.
Weather: Sunny

I will hunt the dungeon ants today as well.
It’s so much more lucrative than gathering medicinal herbs.

And so I was quite excited as I went to the dungeon, but as I tried to set my trap, one of the guards stopped me.
What? A warning from the guild? No traps?
…What does this mean!?
I asked the guard frantically, but all I got were shakes of the head. He insisted that I ask the guild if I wanted to know more… Damn it! Those bureaucratic bunglers!

I rushed back to the guild and asked the young man behind the reception desk.
The reason was quite serious. Apparently, a lot of F-Rank Adventurers were copying me and trying to use traps to hunt the dungeon ants.
In the end, some of them were greatly injured, even to the point where they would never work as Adventurers again. And so they had no choice but to forbid it.
…If this is what was going to happen, I should have forced myself to keep hunting yesterday…this is the worst.

After losing my enthusiasm, I waited aimlessly at the guild bar. It was then that Ms. Marga, who had an unusually sober face, talked to me with a concerned look.
As she asked me what had happened, I muttered the reason quietly as if grumbling to myself. Haaa… Just opening my mouth was tiresome now.
But when I finished my explanation, Ms. Marga burst into laughter… What was with this person!!
She then added that it was my own fault.
These tricks and loopholes were called that because you did them in secret where no one would notice. Not like me, who didn’t care who saw what I was doing.
…Ohhh… Now that she mentioned it, I did think that she was right…

…But it cannot be helped now that it was done. Right now, the big issue was not that I had been forbidden to use traps, but that I needed a way to efficiently make money.
You do understand that part, don’t you, Ms. Marga?
I was a little sulky, but then she made a surprising suggestion. What? Are you serious? I knew that you were a goddess after all!!

She said that we could explore the dungeon together. In other words, we would be a party!!
The issue of rank could be solved by having at least two people who were above C-rank in the party. I didn’t know that there was such a loophole…
Ms. Marga then called out to the bar, and one slender woman answered and walked towards us.

Her name was Ms. El. Apparently, she was a half-elf.
She was also incredibly beautiful. And her hair was a long, pretty golden color that almost reached her waist.
She was covered in platinum armor and had a long sword and kite shield. And everything was emblazoned with detailed designs that made it look like she was wrapped in ivy.
With such an appearance, one might think she was a legendary war maiden.

…How was such a person an acquaintance of Ms. Marga??

But just as I was about to introduce myself, Ms. Marga opened her mouth unnecessarily and blurted, ‘This is the Nameku Hunter I told you about’!
How far did she intend to spread that!? And why was the stranger nodding with satisfaction!?
…I will wipe away that name one day, you hear!?

It was decided that we would enter the dungeon first thing in the morning.
This was so exciting! I’ve always dreamed of going into a dungeon!!
I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep tonight…
!! I just had an amazing idea. I will stay at a luxurious inn to celebrate the occasion!
Delicious food, a large bath, a soft bed. That will guarantee that I get a good sleep!
I can make money tomorrow.

Today’s earnings and expenses:
Bronze: -50(Inn)(Bed: A+, Food: A+)
————-
Balance: 49 bronze

So excited. ((o(゚▽゚○)(○゚▽゚)o)) So nervous. What adventure will await me tomorrow…I can’t wait.

  1. Quite the whimsical one, she is. While rest is important, I don’t think splurging on an inn is all that worth it. Well, hopefully, she doesn’t end up regretting it later.

    Thanks for the chapter!

  2. I really do worry that she’ll end up broke soon given her spending habits. Save the expensive inn stay as a celebration for AFTER you complete the dungeon dive. If she ever joins an adventurer party, one of them is going to need to confiscate all her money and be in charge of it.
