Chapter 105 – The Large Plow and Hippolius
When I returned to the field, the others had leisurely gone back to work.
Kelly and Fio were playing with the wolf cubs.
“Fio, Kelly. Thank you.”
“Wuff! Leave it to us.”
“The wolf cubs have so much energy. But they ate their treats, so they might start getting sleepy soon.”
The cubs ran towards me playfully.
“My, they sure are energetic. Wait one moment, I have to give Hippolius some water.”
‘Okay!’
“Wuff.”
‘Wait.’
The cubs sat politely and wagged their tails.
“Very good.”
And then I took out a bowl and put some water in it for Hippolius and Shiro.
In the meantime, Hippolius ran towards the field.
“Kyuo-kyuo!”
“Oh, Hippolius. So you came back from your walk. You should rest then.”
The Adventurers said as the petted Hippolius.
And so I called out.
“Hippolius. I poured you some water, so come and drink.”
‘Yes! Hippolius drink water!’
And so Hippolius ran towards me.
“You too, Shiro.”
“Wuff!”
As the two drank the water thirstily, I also prepared some snacks.
Unlike the wolf cubs, Hippolius and Shiro could eat it as it was, so it was easy.
“Hippolius, Shiro. Eat this too.”
“Kyuo!”
“Wuff!”
They then ate the meat.
There was something comforting, seeing them enjoy their food so much.
And then I turned to Fio and the wolf cubs.
“Kuro, Roro, Ruru. Were you being good?”
‘Kuro good.’
“Au.”
‘Yes.’
“I see, I see.”
And so I petted them.
After resting for a little, I left the cubs with Fio, and returned to work.
Hippolius was eager to get started, and was breathing loudly near the plow.
‘Theodore. Put it on.’
“Aye, leave it to me.”
And so I attached the plow I had just made onto Hippolius.
It was slightly larger than a plow for cows.
The ones used with cows had to be controlled by someone who followed from behind.
“I was going to help with the digging for the hole, but I suppose I should do this instead.”
‘Do it, Theodore.’
And Hippolius wanted me to do it as well.
“Fine, I will do it.”
“Kyuo!”
And so I went behind the plow, and Hippolius moved enthusiastically.
“Kyuo!”
Hippolius pulled with all of its might.
A cow could not compare.
Even the Adventurers raised their voices in awe.
“Kyuo!”
This raised Hippolius’ motivation even higher.
As for the Adventurers, they were busy digging the hole with Ije, or removing rocks from the field.
And just when the sun had moved to the west and the sky turned red.
Hippolius finished cultivating the land.
“That was amazing, Hippolius!”
‘Hippolius was amazing?’
“Aye, very impressive.”
“Kyuo!”
Hippolius wagged its tail happily.
“I didn’t think that it would finish in one day. That was amazing.”
The Adventurers agreed as they petted Hippolius.
Ije also joined them.
“Tomorrow, the seeds can be planted.”
“I see. I’m looking forward to it.”
I said as I looked around at the field again.
“Hippolius’s scent is everywhere, so there may be no need to worry about monsters, but…”
I still thought it would be best to surround it with a fence.
“Tomorrow, I’ll use the wood from the trees that Hippolius uprooted to make a fence.”
“Kyuo!”
And then we all returned to the base.
While everyone was tired from working, they also seemed to be having fun.
As we walked, I asked Ije,
“Ije. What about the pit?”
“Finished, because everyone helped. Even Shiro helped.”
Ije said as she patted Shiro on the head.
“Good work, Shiro.”
“Wuff!”
Shiro looked quite satisfied.
I suppose she was happy to have made a contribution.
“Though, you’re quite dirty from all of that digging.”
“Wuff?”
Shiro’s beautiful white fur was covered in mud.
“Shiro. Let’s bathe later.”
“Wuff!”
Apparently, Shiro was looking forward to taking a bath, as she wagged her tail happily.
‘Hippolius too!’
“Yes, we’ll go in together.”
“Kyuo!”
Hippolius could fit inside when shrunken down.
When we returned to the base, the food had already been prepared.
And so we all ate together, and after cleaning up, we headed to the bathing house.
Thanks for the treat.
