Strange Dragon – 151

Chapter 151 – About Demons

The Adventurers were astonished when they heard about the feast.

“So demons are quite decent folk.”
“Indeed. Though, it also resulted in the human countries not being able to ask much of them.”

Victor said with a smile.

He was not only a famous Adventurer, but an officer in the guild. He was also a nobleman from birth.

And so he knew a lot more of the situation than most.

“Even though he lost the duel, the Demon King is alive and well. And since they stopped attacking after that, his officers are also still around.”
“So their power was maintained.”
“Yes. Though, since the score was settled, they no longer want to invade the human continent.”
“And humans also had no reason to continue the war.”

They had learned of the strength of demons already.

And so they did not want to make too many demands, and anger them all over again.

If that happened, the war might just continue.

Besides, Gisela was the human trump card. And she had now befriended the demons.

Perhaps they thought there was a risk that she would switch sides, if she felt the humans were being unfair.

Regardless, the two old continents were currently at peace.

“…I miss that.”

I muttered, and Gisela looked at me accusingly.

“I only came the other day, but you should have noticed sooner, Mr. Theo.”
“You say that…but it was ten whole years ago…”

People changed a lot in ten years.

Perhaps if she had been a little older when we first met. But she was only seven at that time.

“Also, she was wearing a hood.”
“…Not at first.”
“Huh?”

“But Mr. Theo didn’t notice even after I introduced myself.”
“Yo-you did?”

Well, I had met Alya in the demon port town of Cariari.

Because that is where I joined the other members of the expedition.

We all introduced ourselves at that time.

And I did remember noting that a demon Adventurer was among the crew.

“I was so shocked that you didn’t recognize me…that I put on my hood.”
“I-I see… Sorry.”

Upon hearing this, one of the Adventurers said,

“Aye. She was not wearing a hood at first.”
“Yes, it was during the voyage that she suddenly started to wear the robes and hood.”
“Yes, yes.”

“I was worried that it was too hot. But she always said that she was fine.”
“Ahhh. You really messed up, Mr. Theo.”

They said with grins.

Clearly, they found this all very funny.

But I could not be blamed for not noticing that.

Still, it was likely an important memory for her, so it was natural to feel a little hurt.

And so I bowed my head.

“I’m sorry for not noticing.

“No, it’s fine.”

Alya said with a smile.

As they had defeated the Demon King, Alya and her companions were popular amongst the demons.

They always held a reverence towards those who were strong.

So I was respected purely because I was with Gisela.

“Mr. Theo has always been dense!”

Gisela said happily.

I thought that she was the last person to point the finger when it came to being dense.

That being said, I could not argue when it came to this.

“Alya. Is your father well?”
“Yes, he is.”

“I see. That’s good to hear.”

“Father wanted to meet you two as well.”
“Then maybe I will visit next time. Is he still living in the castle?”
“Yes.”

The Adventurers who had been listening to Gisela and Alya’s conversation were stunned.

“Alya, your father lives in the Demon King’s castle?”
“Uh, yes. He does.”
“Amazing. So you must be from a high-ranking noble family.”
“So that’s why you are so sophisticated.”

And then Gisela said to them,

“But she is not a noble.”

“Huh? But surely only nobles would live in the Demon King’s castle?”
“Uh, Alya’s father is the Demon King. Didn’t you know?”
“What?”
“Are you serious?”

Perhaps they did not believe her, as the Adventurers then turned to me.

“It’s true. She was introduced to me by the Demon King.”
“Exactly. Alya’s father is the Demon King.”

Victor said with a smile.

“Mr. Victor! You knew?”

“Of course. I selected the members of this expedition myself.”

“Oh…right…”

“I’m amazed that your father allowed it.”
“Aye. To go on a dangerous expedition.”

Normally, royals would not accompany others on such a dangerous mission.

“Most of us do not even have families.”

I had no family either.

Like me, there were a lot of people who had lost their family, and had no path left to them other than to become an Adventurer.

“I think Mr. Victor is the only one with family?”
“I even have a grandchild.”

Victor said with a smile.
