Chapter 154 – Path for Hippolius

Fio laughed happily as she rushed down the hallway.

“Wuffu!”

I still had to do the windows and the roof.

However, most of it was complete now.

And so I walked to the center of the courtyard and looked around at the hallway.

“Wuff?”

Fio was opening all the doors and sticking her head out.

“Notice anything strange?”
“No!”

She would close the door and move to the next one.

I suppose she was checking them to make sure they worked well.

To the northside of the base was the dining hall and kitchen.

If you went through the hallway on the southwest side, there were two houses for the Adventurers.

Next to that was Hippolius’s large house.

After that, the hallway stopped.

On the southeast side, there were three houses for the Adventurers.

Next to it was everyone’s favorite, the bathhouse.

And then there was the infirmary, where Victor and the others were taken after falling ill. The  toilet was next to it as well. And that was the end of the hallway.

So the two ends were Hippolius’s house and the toilet.

“Though, every house has one toilet as well.”

And so there was no need to go outside, or down a long hallway in order to use it.

“Yes. There is no problem.”

In terms of structure, I had not made any grave mistakes…I think.

“Wuff?”

Fio stuck her head out from the door near the toilet hallway.

“Hmm? Fio. Did you notice anything at all?”
“Uhh.”

Fio thought about it with a serious expression as she walked towards me.

“Hippo! Get in?”
“Huh? Get in… Ahh, while still big, you mean?”

“Yes!”

“I…don’t think so.”

Recently, Hippolius would spend most of its time small.

And so I wasn’t really thinking about Hippolius going into the house while still big.

“The summer is one thing, but it might be difficult during the winter.”
“Yes.”

According to Kelly, it was easier to survive the cold if you had a big body.

I did plan to make some winter clothes for small Hippolius.

However, there would be times when Hippolius had to be large in order to work.

And it would be cold if Hippolius had to shrink down before coming inside.

“It’s like how humans take off their jackets inside of the house.”
“Wuff?”

As Fio was raised by wolves, she didn’t really understand.

“Well, thank you for noticing.”
“Wuff.”

“Alright, I will make make an entrance on the other side of Hippolius’s house as well.”

“Make hallway entrance bigger?”
“That might be better…”
“Wuff?”

Perhaps Fio did not like the idea of changing the house, as she was now so familiar with it.

“Indeed…”

The door for Hippolius’s house was already big.

Currently, the entrances to the hallway were made at the corners and between each building.

The entrances between the buildings were made so you could go outside or into the courtyard.

“So on the courtyard side, I can put a door that is as large as the other one.”
“Wuff!”

Even if it’s not used during the summer, it might be used during the winter.

So I would prepare it, just in case.

“If I didn’t have the crafting skill, I would have to change the entire wall, which would be a lot of work.”

I walked through the courtyard until I was in front of Hippolius’s house.

And then I used my appraisal skill on the hallway wall that was in front of the door.

After understanding the materials, I used the crafting skill to turn the wall into a door.

And then I used metal to create the hinges.

“Phew. That should do it. What do you think, Fio?”

“Wuff!”

Fio opened and closed the new door.

“I meant to make it like the door of Hippolius’s house…is there a problem?”
“No!”

“I see. That’s good.”

And with that, the hallway was mostly complete.
