Chapter 179 – Harvesting the Sugar Beets
As Dragon descended, I introduced everyone to the land sharks.
“Bemu-bemu-bemu.”
And then the land sharks made their own introductions.
After that, they served us some sugar beets as I asked Bemubemu a question.
“Bemubemu. Is there anything you need help with?”
“Bemu.”
Bemubemu held the shovel that I had given him, and he thought about it.
“It can be a house, farming tools, repairs, anything.”
I asked the other land sharks as well.”
“Bemu?”
They tilted their heads and thought.
Perhaps there wasn’t anything that was troubling them right now.
“What about the harvest? I could help if you need some extra hands… Also, where do you store them after harvesting?”
“Bemu-beeemu.”
“Hmm. You cut the leaves and bury them in the ground.”
“Bemu.”
“And then you wait for spring. Amazing.”
As the sugar beets were large, it must be a lot of work.
“Should I help?”
“Bemu-bemu!”
As they wanted to harvest them, I decided to help.
And so went with the land sharks to the nearby field.

“I see. You were troubled because you couldn’t harvest them.”
While it was harvesting season, they could not approach the fields, as the devil would appear.
And they could not return to their homes either, or retrieve their tools.
Me, Gisela and Alya.
And Hippolius and Dragon as well.
Even if the sugar beets were large, we should be able to harvest them without much trouble.

The land sharks were very happy as they used their tools for harvesting.
They worked very quickly.
And so we watched them and copied as best as we could.

Hippolius and Dragon were so big and strong, that they dug them out easily.
The land sharks looked up at Hippolius with great respect.
In the end, it did not even take one hour to finish digging all of them out.
“And then they are going to be buried again?”
“Bemu!”
It was definitely a strange thing to do right after digging them out.
However, if done right, they could store them like this without them going bad.
“I’ll help with the digging then.”
“Kyuo!”
“Bemu…”
The land sharks started to think.
“You haven’t decided where to store them?”
“Bemu.”
Apparently, it was decided every year before the harvest.
However, they didn’t have time to do that this year, because of the devil.

“I see. So you move it close to the place where you will grow them next year.”
The land sharks changed the location of their homes along with the harvest.
“Bemu-bemu.”
The land sharks were quite troubled.
“Then, should I store them until you decide on your new home?”
“Bemu!?”
“It’s fine. I could fit this amount into the magic bag. And they will be preserved there.”
“Bemu!”
“Bemu! Bemu!”
They asked me to do it then, and so I placed the sugar beets into the magic bag.
“Bemu.”
“…Bemu.”
They looked quite shocked when they saw them.
And they were very impressed.
After that, I asked if there was anything else I could help with.
They spoke with each other for a moment, and said that there was no need.
If there was nothing they needed, it was a good thing.
“Alright, then we’ll go back once. Bemubemu has been to the base, so he will know where it is. It is in that direction…”
And so I told the other land sharks the location.
“If you are ever in trouble or need something, we will come.”

Well, I had a feeling that Kelly would be the most happy if the land sharks came.

Apparently, Gisela was going to run instead of riding on Dragon.
‘Alya, ride? Kyuo!’
“Hippolius wants to carry you, Alya. What will you do?”

Alya then climbed up, and Hippolius started to walk.
“Bemu-bemu.”
“Yes, see you again.”
The land sharks followed us.
I suppose they wanted to see us off.

And so Hippolius didn’t run.
Hippolius was also sad to separate with them.
Or so I thought…
“The land sharks are still following us.”
It had been ten minutes, but all of them were still with us.
I doubted it was because they were worried that we would take their sugar beets.
I could tell, because I had the taming skill.
“Do they want to come with us?”
“We should take them!”
Said Gisela and Alya.
“I thought it might be that.”
The land sharks were holding their farming tools with their short arms, and walking as fast as they could on their short feet.
Even Bemubemu waddled after us while carrying the shovel I had made for him.
