Strange Dragon – 155

Chapter 155 – Adding the Roof

Fio opened and closed the new door and said,

“Finished?”
“Just the glass windows and roof left.”
“Oh…”
“It will be finished soon enough.”
“Wuffu!”

There was still time left before lunch.

And so I wanted to finish it before then.

I took out some sand from my magic bag.

This was so I could craft glass out of the silicone contained in the sand.

I had done this when making windows for the other buildings as well.

So the process was the same.

I carefully apprised the wood for the frames, as well as the sand.

Once that was finished, I activated the crafting skill all at once.

Then I installed the finished window.

“Amazing!”

“Thank you. As there are a lot of windows, I better keep going.”

I had a lot of windows in order to let as much light in as possible.

And since I had left spaces open in advance, installing the windows was easy.

“Wuff-wuff.”

Fio seemed to be very interested, as she would follow me around while wagging her tail.

And like this, I finished putting all of the windows in.

“Wuffu! Finished?”

“The windows, yes. Now there is the roof.”

“Roof!”

I would cover the roof in a thin sheet of metal that did not rust easily.

If the metal was shaped just right, then I would be able to fix them to the wooden roof without using any nails.

“Make a ladder…”

I used wood to craft a ladder to climb up onto the roof.

“Ladder!”

“Fio. Don’t try to climb up it, alright?”
“Why?”
“Because it is dangerous.”
“Okay!”

And so I climbed up to the roof.

And then I took the metal out of the magic bag.

The metal ingots that did not rust easily. I had made extra before, when working on the sinks.

First, I used my appraisal skill on them, and turned them into thin sheets.

When doing this, I made them have slight protrusion on the bottom side, so that they could attach to the wooden roof.

The crafting place was also important.

Instead of crafting them and then putting them in place, I would craft them in the place where they should be fixed.

That was the key.

Place the metal planks on the wooden roof, and craft it so that the protrusion digs into the wood.

Like this, once all of the metal is in place, they will also be stuck to the roof.

It was also important to appraise the wooden roof in advance.

“Hmm… Indeed.”

After finishing the roof, I thought for a while.

All of the other buildings had wooden roofs.

This was no problem, as there was little rain during this season.

But you never know when it will rain.

And there would be snow in the winter.

“Since I have time, I might as well do it now.”

Indeed, it would be best to just cover all of the buildings’ roofs as well.

It would keep them safe from the rain, and prevent snow from piling up.

And so I used the same method to cover the other roofs as well.

After I was finished, I used the ladder to climb back down.

“Wuffu! Amazing!”
“Thank you.”
“Finished?”
“Yes. I’m finished!”
“Wuffu!”

Fio wagged her tail happily.

“I finished a lot sooner than I expected.”

Originally, I thought that I would still be working in the afternoon.

“I suppose it was because I had all of the materials  prepared in advance…”

“Problem?”
“No problem. I’m just surprised because it went so well.”
“I see. All good and nothing bad.”
“That’s right. It is all good.”
“Yes!”

Perhaps I was also able to use my appraisal and crafting skills better than before.

Now that I thought about it, I had rarely used my crafting skill to construct buildings in the past.

In the Hero’s party, I mainly crafted and repaired weapons, or made potions.

It was generally doing the same thing repeatedly.

But ever since I came to the new continent, I have made so many new things.

So my skills must have improved.

“Pi!”
“Thank you, Pii.”

Pii chirped on top of my head.

While I was working, Pii would move back and forth from my head to my shoulders, and massage me.

“I think I was able to work efficiently because of you, Pii.”
“Pii?”

“The massage kept me from getting too tired and slowing down.”
“Pii!”

Pii jiggled happily.
