Chapter 157 – Winter Clothes
The Adventurers had all prepared on their own when coming here.
They had been told in advance that the new continent was likely to be cold.
And so they brought winter clothes as well.
“Apparently, the winters will be even colder than we thought. And so our clothes may not be enough.”
“Indeed. I doubt everyone has prepared enough…”
“And Fio has nothing at all. Kelly. You wouldn’t have anything for Fio, would you?”
I asked Kelly, since she was close by.
The clothes that Fio was wearing now were clothes that Kelly brought.
“No. After all, they take up so much space. I’m sorry.”
“Well, it’s no surprise.”
The cloth was much thicker, and so winter clothes were larger.
“I suppose Fio’s clothes will be the top priority then.”
“Wuff? I have fur though?”
Up until now, Fio had wrapped herself in skins during the winter.
They were from demon boars that the wolves had hunted.
And she would change them after they went bad.
“Yes, those are quite warm. But it’s troublesome to have to change them each time.”
“Wuff?”
Besides, those skins were valuable.
It was best to have them tanned properly, so they could be used for a long time.
“It’s very useful if you process them to last longer.”
“Wuff! Amazing!”
Fio wagged her tail with excitement.
And then Ije, who was sitting next to her and eating, said,
“Um.”
“What is it, Ije? Ah, do you have winter clothes?”
Ije was someone who lived here already.
If the false demon bear had not destroyed her village, she would have had winter clothes.
“Have in village. Enough for Fio too.”
“Oh? is that so?”
“Yes. Mink clothes. No one else to wear.”
We had taken things we could use from there already.
However, it was mostly seeds, farming tools and food.
“Fio is smaller than Ije. But should be able to wear.”
“If you don’t mind, then we would be grateful.”
With my crafting skill, I could make clothes and shoes.
However, I was not a professional.
I must make things that were usable, without much thought about how they looked.
Besides, there were times when the sizes turned out wrong, even after taking measurements.
And I didn’t know how to make clothes that were easy to move in.
I should have done some research, but there was not much opportunity to make clothes while going out on adventures.
And so it would be much easier to get the clothes from Ije’s village instead.
“Wuff! Thanks, Ije!”
“Yes. There is father’s clothes as well.”
I suppose Ije didn’t realize our lack of clothes the last time we visited.
After all, Fio was wearing the nice clothes from Kelly.
“Ms. Ije. If you allowed us to use them, it would be a great help.”
Victor said, and Ije smiled.
“Yes! Father and the others, happy to have clothes used.”
“I see. Ije. We should go when you aren’t busy with the farm.”
“Go now?”
“What about the field?”
“Fine. Seeds planted. And Boaboa making soft ground in new area.”
Now that I thought about it, she did say that the places where Boaboa played in would make a good field.
Perhaps the Chimera fur affected the soil in some way.
Or there was magic energy involved.
“And so no work!”
“I see. We were supposed to help Mr. Theo in the afternoon, but…”
“Mr. Theo worked so fast and finished. I was surprised.”
“I was going to play with wolf cubs.”
Apparently, they had all finished today’s work.
“I see. Well, since you worked in the morning, you can take it easy, you know? Ms. Ije.”
We could always get the clothes closer to winter.
“Want to get sugar beet as well. Eat sweet things.”
“Sugar beets, huh? That is important. Alright, let’s go then. Can you come too, Shiro?”
“Wuff!”
Shiro was enthusiastic.
“Fio too.”
‘Go!’
“Au-au!”
‘Together!’
Fio and the wolf cubs wanted to come with us.
‘Become big?’
Hippolius asked.
“Indeed. Alright, you should become big, Hippolius.”
“Kyuo!”
It would be hard to carry Hippolius and the cubs.
It seemed that it would be me, Ije, Hippolius, Pii, wolf cubs, Fio and Shiro who were going.
And so it would be easier to travel on Hippolius’s back.
“Ah, that’s right. Ije. Is there anything like cotton?”
I was thinking that the clothes from the village would not be enough.
And so I wanted to make clothes from cotton.
“Cotton? Yes.”
“Is it far?”
“Little far.”
“I see. Well, I will go when I have time then.”
“Yes. But… Harvest during Autumn.”
“Autumn. So it’s too late then…”
“Yes.”
And so after lunch, it was decided that we would head off for Ije’s village.
