Day 143: Storm Approaching!
Holy Era 6102, Month of the Long-Night Monkey, 3rd day.
Weather: Cloudy
While the rain has subsided, the sky is still cloudy, and the air is damp.
There is something eerily uncomfortable about this weather.
Well, we still have to go to work without rest.
There is no holiday for Adventurers with debts!
After eating breakfast, we headed to the Adventurers Guild as always, but…
Hmm. The town is strangely restless.
It was like they were all frantic… What had happened?
Though confused at what was happening in the town, we soon arrived at the guild. It was also in a hurried state.
Not just the guild workers, but the Adventurers were also running around.
We tried to avoid getting in their way as we went to the front desk.
Upon noticing us, the face of the muscular guild worker, who had a tired expression, brightened for a moment.
I then asked him about what was going on. And he said that there was a storm approaching the town.
While the weather was still peaceful, it would start to go violent tonight.
And so they were busy with preparations… A storm…huh? What about work?
As I wondered what to do, the muscular young man asked us if we had time now.
What’s this, all of a sudden…? It was true that we hadn’t decided on the day’s work, but…
‘Then I have just the thing for you!’ he said as he placed a stack of papers in front of us.
‘We don’t have enough personnel to help with the storm! If you help now, there will be a forty percent bonus!’ Wait, is that true!?
While surprised, I checked the contents. It was surprisingly simple work.
And if there was a forty percent bonus… Let’s do it! We have no other choice!
And so we accepted nearly all of the recommended jobs.
However, since there were so many of them, we would have to split up.
My job was to nail wooden planks over the windows of houses.
Ms. Noa would use magic to help create walls of dirt to prevent flooding.
Ms. Nico would go to the Alchemist Guild to make emergency medicine.
Ms. Mia would go to the port and help with the boats.
It was a race against time before the storm came… We must do our best!
By the time we managed to finish the work and return to the guild, it was right before evening.
The winds were quite a bit stronger now, and it was starting to rain.
Hah…I’m tired… Perhaps I got too greedy with accepting the jobs?
I’m so exhausted…I want to go back to the inn and rest.
However, when I accepted my reward, rested a little and then went outside…
HEY!? Why is the guild ship moving away from the docks!?
Ah, land is so far away! We can’t…we can’t return to the inn!
While shocked by this unexpected turn of events, I went back inside and asked the young man for an explanation.
‘Since it’s dangerous for a large ship to moor inside the bay, it anchors offshore instead. It’s too bad you weren’t able to get off in time.’ Hey, why are you laughing!?
I was so disappointed that my shoulders slumped on the spot. He then handed me a sheet of paper.
‘There is still work to do inside of the guild ship. What do you think?’
…Why do I feel like this was a trap! This is the worst!
