Shinmai Boukensha – 142

Day 142: Rain, and an unexpected encounter!

Holy Era 6102, Month of the Long-Night Monkey, 2nd day.

Weather: Rain

It has been raining since morning… It is always depressing to have to work on rainy days.

After finishing breakfast, we notified Mr. Tarl, and then went to the forest.

Departure would be around midday, and so we wanted to get some gathering quests done in the meantime.

We would not have accepted them if we knew there would be rain…how unlucky.

We were looking for a medicinal herb called Mimin.

It was something that grew in just about any forest, so it would not be difficult to gather.

The problem was that there were so many types, and it was hard to differentiate between them.

Even in our party, Ms. Nico was the only one who could tell them apart with complete accuracy.

And so we decided to have her separate them after we had gathered a lot.

After all, it would be more efficient for us to split up, rather than search as a group.

Thankfully, there are no dangerous monsters in this forest, so it should be safe to act alone.

That was what I thought while walking in the forest…

And then I saw it…

Yes, it!

About the size of a cow, with slimy skin and a body with brown patterns. The antena-like eyes.

Yes, a King Nakemu!

It had been a while since I last saw one… But its appearance and movements were as disgusting as ever.

From what I could see, there seemed to be five of them… Still, since I wanted to make as much money as possible, I might as well hunt them.

A few minutes later, the battle was over.

They were just King Nameku…so it was easy work.

Now…how should I carry them?

Hmm. While she’s not going to like it, I have no choice but to ask Ms. Noa…

After that, I found Ms. Noa and asked her to do it. Just as expected, her eyes filled with tears…

‘This is really gross, you know?’ Uh, yes, I know.

Still, they are easy to hunt and pay well. So it can’t be helped.

We wouldn’t have to do this if we didn’t have debts.

After we finished gathering, we returned in time to depart the village. However, it was night time when we arrived in Marga Town.

The rain had slowed our progress a little.

And while we were tired, we headed to the guild without resting.

With herbs, freshness was very important, and so we had to deliver them today.

Even though it was night time, the guild was rather lively.

I was a little jealous of the Adventurers who were drinking happily. Regardless, we had to sort out the herbs.

…But there were so many, and it took a long time.

The problem was also that Ms. Nico was the only one who could tell them apart…

As we worked for some time, Ms. Mia suddenly stood up.

‘I know! Meow!’ What’s gotten into you?

I looked at her with suspicious, and Ms. Mia declared that she could tell them apart now… Huh!?

As I looked at her in surprise, she moved her nose closer and said that they smelled different.

We had Ms. Nico check, and she said that Ms. Mia was right…

Catfolk have a good sense of smell too then… I didn’t know that.

Still, that will make things easier! Alright, let’s do our best with the last three bags!!

Today’s earnings and expenses:

Silver: +1 (Quest reward after paying debts)

           +4 (Gathering quest reward)

           +3 (King Nameku reward x5)

           -2 (Inn x3 + Soshio) (Bed: ◎, Food: ◎)

              ————————–

Remaining Debt: 19 gold, 96 silver.

(*’-‘*) I’m glad that our debts are decreasing. Let’s continue to do it, little by little.
