Chapter 173 – Gathering Spot for Sugar Beets
When I passed her the sword, Gisela waved it around lightly, as if to test the feeling.
“Mr. Theo. Thank you! Yes, it’s wonderful!”
“I’m glad.”
“Alright, let’s go to the devil so I can test this blade.”
Gisela said as she took out the sheath and put the sword in it.
She had kept it after all.
“Well, we’ll see you later then.”
Kelly and the others started to walk towards the base.
“Beeemu!”
Cried the land shark, which was being held by Ije.
Apparently, it was worried about its friends.
And the beets as well.
That was why it wanted to come with us.
Unlike the others, it could not wait to go tomorrow.
Besides, it would be able to lead us there directly.
“It is dangerous, though?”
“Bemu!”
“Very well.”
And so I took the land shark from Ije.
“Be careful.”
“Bemu!”
“I hope the others are alright.”
“Bemu.”
And so Kelly, Ije, Fio, Shiro and the wolf cubs returned to the base.
After seeing them leave, I climbed back onto Hippolius’s back.
Pii and the land shark were with me.
“Alirght, Gisela, you too…”
“Graaugh.”
I was about to tell her to ride on Hippolius as well, but then I heard dragon’s voice.
Apparently, he wanted to carry Gisela.
I suppose it wanted to make itself useful too.
But he really didn’t need to worry about that.
“Huh? You want to carry me? Very well, if you insist.”
“Graaugh.”
Dragon looked happy.
“Um…Mr. Theo. Gisela. I want to go too.”
“…You, Alya?”
“As I haven’t been able to use much magic here…”
Like dragon, Alya wanted to be useful here.
“Then you should come with us. Alya, ride with me on dragon.”
Gisela said, and then she offered her hand and helped Alya climb up.
“It’s fine, isn’t it, Mr. Theo?”
Gisela said with a smile.
I had no doubts about Alya’s power.
If she wanted to help, then that was reassuring.
“Yes, of course. I’ll be counting on you.”
“I will do my best.”
“Dragon. Fly in the sky and follow Hippolius.”
“Graugh.”
“Try to stay high enough so that the enemy doesn’t notice you.”
“Grau.”
And so Hippolius started to run.
As Kelly and the others weren’t riding now, it was much faster.
After running for some time, we arrived at the spot where we met the land shark.
“Where should we go now?”
“Bemu.”
We followed the land shark’s directions and walked slowly.
Dragon also followed us slowly in the sky.
There was little point in erasing my presence now.
Because Hippolius was not good at being stealthy.
“Bemu.”
“So it’s over there.”
“Bemu-bemu.”
We continued to walk in the forest until we came out into a clearing.
“This is the sugar beets field?”
“Bemu-bemu!”
Apparently, it was.
The land shark happily jumped off of Hippolius’s back.
And then it started to inspect the sugar beet leaves.
‘Smell it!’
Hippolius recognized the smell as well.
It looked like a field of radish. The ground was covered in green leaves.
The plants were quite far apart.
“It’s an impressive field.”
“Bemu-bemu!”
The land shark looked proud.
It had worked hard tending to them with the others.
“Bemu!”
There were other fields like this, and so they could sometimes let the fields rest.
By the look of things, they farmed without plowing the ground. And planted them directly.
It was a method that had started to be used on the old continent as well.
There were positives and negatives, but I was not a professional, so I could not say much about it.
That being said, the benefits were probably greater, since they did it on the old continent.
“Bemu?”
The land shark said that it wanted to tend to field.
It had not been able to approach it for some time, due to the threat of the devil.
And so it was worried about the state of the sugar beets.
“No, not yet. We don’t know when the devil will return.”
It was too dangerous to go back to work now.
The land shark had said that the devil would attack while they tended to the fields.
And so it was best to be cautious.
“Bemu…”
“Do you know which direction it came from?”
“Bemu-bemu-beeeemu.”
Apparently, it did not know.
It just came out of nowhere and slaughtered the others.
And so the land sharks were never calm enough to analyze and figure out where the devil came from.
“Hippolius. Do you detect anything suspicious?”
Shiro and Hippolius had been the ones to sense that something was wrong.
And so Pii and I had come out here.
So it would not be surprising for Hippolius to detect something large and evil.
‘…Kyuo!’
With a serious expression, Hippolius’s nose started to twitch.
“Kyuo!”
Suddenly, Hippolius’s eyes widened, and its magic horn grew.
At the same time, something like a dark and evil clump of magic energy began to fly towards us from far away.
Thanks for the treat.
That’s one dedicated farmer land shark. Thanks for the chapter!
