Chapter 184 – Early Morning at Boaboa’s House

I walked and followed after Bemubemu.

Even when running, Bemubemu was not very fast. What he was doing was closer to waddling.

“Bemubemu, it’s not that way.”
“Bemu?”

Bemubemu was going the wrong way, and so I stopped him.

The distance between Hippolius’s house and Boaboa’s was so short, and yet he still got distracted…

I suppose it could not be helped, because he was a child.

“There is a river nearby, so it will be dangerous to go off alone.”
“Bemu!”

“So you can swim?”
“Bemu!”

Bemubemu boasted that he could swim, and so he was not afraid of the river.

Well, they looked just like sharks, so it would not be surprising.

“Still, Bemubemu. There might be demon boards and bears.”
“…Bemu.”
“And a devil might appear as well.”
“Bebebe…mumumumu…”

Upon hearing that, Bemubemu came running back to me.

It used its arms to grab my legs.

Bemubemu was shivering.

“We defeated the devil yesterday. And we can do it again if there is another one. Well, Gisela will.”

It had annihilated Shiro and Fio’s wolf pack, destroyed Ije’s village, badly wounded Boaboa, and killed a number of land sharks.

“Bebemumu.”
“Don’t worry. Still, it is best for us to stick together.”

I had not meant to frighten Bemubemu like this.

I just wanted to teach him that it was dangerous to walk out alone.

“As long as you are with us, then you have nothing to fear.”
“Bebemumumu.”

I picked up the shaking shark. And then I petted him gently.

Pii also moved from my shoulder to Bemubemu’s head and jiggled.

“…Bebemu.”

After a while, Bemubemu was cheerful again.

And he wagged his short tail.

“Now, let’s go and see the other land sharks.”
“Bemu!”

And so I headed to Boaboa’s house while carrying Bemubemu.

As it was close by, we arrived in no time.

“It’s quiet.”
“Bemu.”

I had thought that the others would be awake and active like Bemubemu, but I was wrong.

And so I quietly opened the door.

“Gua…”

The first thing I saw was Dragon.

He was lying down as if to block the entrance. When he saw me, he yawned and pushed his head against me.

“So you were awake.”

I asked so as not to disturb the others.

“Aaau.”

Dragon must have slept here in order to protect the others from any enemies that might try to get in.

I petted Dragon while holding Bemubemu.

“And the others?”

“Grau.”

Dragon moved out of the way, so that I could see the rest of the house.

The land sharks were all gathered together in a corner and sleeping.

For some reason, three Adventurers were with them as well.

“…I suppose they got so drunk that they couldn’t return to their own rooms.”

Adventurers should always be prepared for danger, so this was not good.

Victor would probably scold them later.

“Bemu-bemu.”

I put Bemubemu down on the ground.

“Pii!”

Pii then jumped back onto my shoulder.

“Bemu.”
Bemubemu thanked me and then waddled off to join the other land sharks.

And then he wasted no time in falling asleep.

Apparently, the sharks liked to sleep together.

“As for Boaboa…”

Boaboa, who was a Chimera that resembled a boar, was sleeping away from the others.

Next to her, Boeboe was sleeping, as was Gisela.

“Well, Boaboa is very warm.”

I understood why Gisela would want to sleep close by.

“Pipii.”
“Huh? What is it?”

‘Kelly. Alright?’

“Alright…? Ah.”

When I looked, I saw that Kelly was sleeping under Boaboa’s tail.

Well, she looked fine for now.

“…But if Boaboa changes positions, it might be dangerous.”
‘Yes.’

If Boaboa wanted to stretch her legs, she might end up kicking Kelly in the face.

Even if it wasn’t a hard kick, it would still break your bones, due to Boaboa’s great size.

Also, she might be stepped on and die.

Or if Boaboa decided to defecate, it would land right on top of Kelly.

Of course, I doubted Boaboa would do that inside of the house.

“But Boaboa might still pass gas into her face.”

‘Yes.’

And so I decided to wake Kelly up, just to be safe.
